The 2017 box had a increased chance to drop premium ships T6 De Grasse or T6 Mutsu, in addition to the chance to drop one of the list below.
Coal did not exist last christmas, so thats a obvious difference. We do get 4x camos now instead of 5x before, but the new camo has better features (see below). The biggest change here is the removal of the 30d premium.

The 2017 box had a increased chance to drop premium ships T5 Okhotnik, T7 Scharnhorst or T7 Leningrad, in addition to the chance to drop one of the list below.
Coal and the new signals (Basilisk, Scylla, Leviathan) did not exist back then. We get 10x camos now instead of 15x Frosty Fir tree, but the new camo has better features (see below). Biggest difference is again the removal of 90d of premium.

|–||5x Spring Sky camo|
The 2017 box had a increased chance to drop premium ships T6 Gallant, T8 Loyang or T8 Alabama, in addition to the chance to drop one of the list below.
Coal, the new signals (Basilisk, Scylla, Leviathan) and new camos (Mosaic, Asian Lantern and Spring Sky) did not exist back then. We get 20x camos now instead of 30x Frosty Fir tree, but the new camo has better features (see below). Last year also had the Type 59 camo, which we dont have this year. Biggest difference is again the removal of 180d of premium.
|2017 Frosty Fir Tree||2018 New Year Streamer|
|+100% XP per battle||+100% XP per battle|
|+50% Free XP per battle||+100% Free XP per battle|
|+125% Commander XP per battle||+150% Commander XP per battle|
So while both give the same Ship XP for grinding a line, the new camo gives more FXP and CXP on top.
Missouri, Musashi, Kronshtadt, Mikhail Kutuzov, Belfast, Giulio Cesare, Gremyaschy, Kamikaze, Imperator Nikolai, Alabama, Gascogne, Kii, Masschusetts, Roma, Tirpitz, Atago, Prinz Eugen, Asashio, Kidd, Le Terrible, Loyang, Ashitaka, Duke of York, Hood, Scharnhorst, Atlanta, Boise, Nueve de Julio, Duca degli Abruzzi, Indianapolis, Blyskawica, Haida, Leningrad, Sims, Z-39, Arizona, Dunkerque, Mutsu, Warspite, Admiral Graf Spee, De Grasse, Duca d'Aosta, Huanghe, Molotov, Perth, Aigle, Anshan, Gallant, Monaghan, T-61, Texas, Marblehead, Murmansk, Krasny Krym, Oktyabrskaya Revolutsiya and Okhotnik.
Ships in bold are added in 2018. None have been removed from 2017 to today.
Of course we have some new additions, ships that have not been released in 2017 or were too recent. But we also have a few more "lower value" ships now, such as Marblehead and Krasny Krym. But note that last year, if you already had the ships in the list, it would roll a ship from the Supercontainer pool (which also contained Marblehead etc.), so its not really a change here. In contrast we can now get Missouri. Also Musashi and Kronshtadt which are still available for Coal/FreeXP in the game but will be removed soon.
All ships come with a 10pt commander and port slot, no change in that.
As i already see some people coming up with wild theories (again)… you can get duplicate ships in these containers, just as last year. And just as last year, you can only get a duplicate if you already own every ship that is in the pool. If you get a duplicate, you will get the full doubloon value of that rolled ship.
If the ship droprate in either of the three sizes has changed is of course not easy to tell. RNG is RNG, you can see NoZoupForYou open 20 of each size and gets only one ship rolled. The Mighty Jingles does the same and gets four. Its RNG people, dont go crazy with your theories unless your sample size is large enough. Of course we will see posts by people who buy 5x containers and get 3 ships from them, and as well as some who spend 100$ and gets none.
Also do note that the contents of these containers are NOT determined when you buy them (unlike containers through the rest of the year). The content is determined when you open them. So there is no more need to buy them in seperate batches to avoid duplicates. If you want 50, buy 50 at once. (Source)
Missouri, Musashi and Kronshtadt dont have doubloon prices. What happens if you get one of those as a duplicate? The game will automatically give you the set price as compensation, which in these three cases is 1 credit (yes, no joke). It is very unlikely that this will happen. But if it does, you could contact WG support about it and they might give you doubloons (Source). Atleast thats how its done for Supercontainers and its safe to assume it will be handled the same with paid containers.
At first glance many of you will notice the lack of any Premium Account time in the new containers, which of course sucks. The upcoming addition of the "WoWs-exclusive Premium Account with +65% XP" might have something to do with this. But at a closer look, that is kind of balanced out by new signals, better camo, coal and many more ships. But if you dont care about any of these things and you want Premium Account… my suggestion is to wait for early january, we might again see a sale on it (hopefully no forced bundles tho).
The list of possible ships obviously has increased a lot, especially Missouri is likely to cause people to buy containers to get her.
Prices have not really changed at all, a lot of the content has stayed the same. Premium Account is replaced by better signals, camos and more ships, especially three rare hightier ships.
