I had a PS4 back in 2016 and sold it within a couple of months of purchasing it because I thought there wasn't many good SP games on it. I wrote off Horizon back then based on their developers history of making pretty dull games, ahem Killzone, despite the good reviews for Horizon. Fast forward to a week before Thanksgiving, I purchased the RDR2 PS4 bundle and enjoyed the hell out of that game, but it left me yearning for more open worlds. I picked up Odessey at first and my God was that a mistake. Dull, repetitive, poorly written . . . it was pretty damn awful. A week goes by and I couldn't even finish it.
Out of desperation, I decided to pick up Horizon for $10 and man I can't even begin to describe how much I'm enjoying it. I'm only up to lvl 14 and had only just cleared my first Cauldron but I can already see that this game was made with love. This is exactly what you get when you release a studio from it's confines of making trendy post apocalyptic "Halo-killers." Thank you, Guerilla for making such a fantastic and fulfilling game.
Note: My chest literally tightened when a certain someone bit the dust. There's some incredible writing and acting even within the first 2 hours of the game. Prior to RDR2, the last time this happened was when I played Bioshock Infinite. Bravo!
