I am new to Nintendo..I come from a poor country and didn’t even know who Mario was..I only got into gaming and Nintendo in general during April of last year (thank Scott the Woz for getting me into this mess lol)
Thou even with the little time I had..I have been obsessed with their History more than the games (for some reason)
I have watched the old videos..the evolution of them and the fanbase..the old articles and so many more
So yes..I don’t only know about their good and bad actions today..I also know about their start..how they were bad to other devs..how they were greedy to money with cartridges instead of discs..Censorship..I know all about those
BUT!! I also know about the “Mr.Iwata era” (to me..it was Nintendo at it’s best)
From what I learned..Mr. Iwata was an amazing guy..a guy that actually understood the gaming business instead of just business in general..a guy that is actually relatable to anyone..to any gamer..
I won’t go into details about his life obviously since most of you already know about him but if you want a reminder or just learn more about him..I recommend checking these 2 small videos about him by
Gaming Historian and
Now of course..he wasn’t Perfect..far from it..I know all about the Censorship during his era..about the ridiculous Paper Mario situation..the YT creators program and so many more
BUT!! I don’t want to talk about them now..maybe I’ll ask about them in the future but now I just want to focus on Mr.Iwata so please don’t tell all about why he wasn’t perfect and how blind I am
Even with all his flaws..he was one of the best prople in the gaming industry that I can find..no one even came close to him!!
He was a good man over all
So why? What was happening 6 years ago? How was I able to find hate videos and hate comments about him so easily? All the tweets expressing happiness that he is gone..all the videos talking about how with him gone..it will be a turning point to Nintendo because he was getting “old” and “ouf of touch” (even thou he whiteness the creation of BOTW and the switch itself)
Were “console wars” really that bad back in the day? Were people really that heartless to be happy for the death of an innocent human?
I thought that untill I stumbled upon the entitled “fans” that blamed him for the failure of the Wii-U and forgetting all his awesome work during his days as a programmer? Him bringing us the Wii? The freaking DS?? The 3DS?? And even his work on the switch that we all know by now..is doing great!!
It is all making my heart break..everyone blaming Blizzard for laying off it’s employees when they had a great sales year but no one is appreciating how Mr.Iwata slashed his payment by 50 FUCKING PERCENT SO NO EMPLOYEE IS LAYER OFF DURING THEIR DARKEST YEARS?? But instead the “fans” demanded him getting Fired??
He deserved better..Ever since I found about his death I am still wishing that he got to see the success the switch got and dying in peace knowing that he once again..did the right thing and saved the company once again!!
Rest in peace Mr.Iwata..you will be missed
Please feel free to tell me to shut up because I know nothing and I wasn’t there during Nintendo’s hard days so that makes me a hypocrite
Also please..a reminder that the “Ask Iwata” book is gonna be coming to the west next month!! Definitely a must buy if you are interested in Mr.Iwata
If you are in the mood for crying might I suggest my favorite Mr.Iwata crying Material?
We got the GDC tribute , Reggie’s speach at the game awards 2015 and of course..
the legendary quote from the legendary man himself
Sorry for any misspelling I had there (English isn’t my mother language) and sorry for sharing such a dark and sad topic near Mario’s day
