My Favorite RPG games on Nintendo Systems

Gamingtodaynews1b - My Favorite RPG games on Nintendo Systems

So this post is just going to be a collection of my favorite RPG's of all time that exist on a Nintendo console. Keep in mind this is only games that I personally have played, so I can't include games like Secret of Mana, Trials of Mana, DQ XIS, Shin Megami Tensei, etc. If something is not included, please assume I haven't had the privilege of playing it.

I'll be doing handhelds first, in release order.

Gameboy: Pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow – Great games, still fun today. Not too difficult, fun to play alongside someone else.

Gameboy Color: Pokemon Gold/Silver/Crystal – Improvement on the first games, new pokemon, new types, better story.

Dragon Warrior III – Great story, great gameplay, classic game.

Gameboy Advance: Pokemon Fire Red/ Leaf Green – Remake of the first games, WAAAAAY better than them.

Sword of Mana – Apparently not as good as Secret or Trials, but still fun. Give it a shot.

Golden Sun: Great, just great.

Final Fantasy IV Advance: Really good, but not the best FF game.

Final Fantasy VI Advance: The best FF game, amazing characters, world, story, gameplay. If you play any GBA game from this list, play this one.

Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow – WOW this one is good. If you like more action than turn based, play this one instead of FF VI Advance.

DS: Pokemon Diamond/Pearl/Platinum – Definitely play Platinum, it is really really good. Great story, much improved gameplay, and over all a very fun time. A bit difficult too.

Pokemon Black/White – Best story in the series, amazing characters and world, great new pokemon to use.

Pokemon Black 2/White 2 – My personal favorite pokemon game. This game has SO MUCH content, it is ridiculous. There are even more new pokemon, and it is just the best pokemon game ever, seriously.

Chrono Trigger – I don't need to say anything about this game, this is quite possibly one of the best games of all time.

Final Fantasy 4 Remake – Same as FF IV Advance, but with different graphics.

Dragon Quest IX – This game is really damn good. I think most people would say that either this or DQ V is the best on the DS.

Dragon Quest V – This is a really solid game, lots of content, great characters, wonderful story.

Pokemon Heart Gold/Soul Silver – Definitive way to play Johto, what a game, amazing music, amazing graphics, amazing fun, 2 whole regions, just an all around amazing game.

Mario And Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story – Like Chrono Trigger, I need not say anything more. Play this.

Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin – Really good, nothing more to say. You will not be disappointed.

3DS: Pokemon X/Y – Good games, if you like pokemon and camera angles, you will like this one.

Pokemon Alpha Sapphire/Omega Ruby – Damn good, lots of content, great game, you can play just this one game for literally a year.

Pokemon Sun/Moon/Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon – Play the Ultra Versions, they have more content.

Dragon Quest VIII – This game is honestly one of my favorites of all time, and I'm not even done with it yet.

Mario And Luigi: Superstar Saga – Great remake of a great game. The music might be better in the GBA version though.

Mario And Luigi: Dream Team – This game is so engrossing, the music is sexy, everything about this game screams charm and joy.

Yokai Watch – Pokemon-esque, but good in its own way. Worth your time.

Now on to home and hybrid consoles.

NES: Final Fantasy – Good one to see where it all started.

Dragon Warrior – Same as FF, but for the DQ series.

SNES: Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars – This game is what inspired Paper Mario, and it is really good in its own right. Play this game, super good.

Earthbound – Weird game.

N64: I have played exactly 0 RPG's for this system, I don't even know of any, besides Paper Mario.

GameCube: Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door – This game is just plain fun. From the controls, to the plot, to the aesthetics, just a fun game over all.

Wii: Xenoblade Chronicles – This one is breathtaking, expansive, and really gives you a sense of this grand world you live in.

Wii U: Again, I have not played any Wii U RPG's, the only Wii U games I have ever played are NSMBU, NSLU, SM3DW, and Pokken Tournament.

Switch: Octopath Traveler – WOW. This game looks like how you remember SNES RPG's. There are 8 characters, 8 paths, lots of content, cool enemies, cool world, everything is just really cool and immersive. Play this.

Final Fantasy IX – Pretty good, I am somehow not able to really get into it, but it seems like it will get really good really soon, so yeah I recommend it.

And that's my list of my favorite RPG's on Nintendo systems, tell me what I missed and still need to play!
