My wife and I are experiencing really weird freezing issues with Diablo 3 on three different computers. She plays a lot more than I do and the problems started on her desktop PC.
This all started at the end of last season. While playing, the game will randomly freeze for 5-15 seconds and then resume. Most of the time she would get a window pop up saying "Diablo III Retail not responding". This happens more frequently when running greater rifts and a lot more when in any size group. It hardly happens when doing bounties or regular rifts, even when in groups.
We've tried everything to resolve this. Any potential fix that we could find online, nothing worked. I did a fresh install of windows 10 Pro, didn't help. Pulled apart her PC and tested all of her hardware, nothing faulty. Tried running the game on WiFi, Ethernet, and a WiFi hotspot we have from Verizon, still freezing.
Here's where it gets worse. As of earlier this week, my desktop started to have the same exact problem. Freezing randomly in game for 5-15 seconds with a "Diablo III Retail not responding" window pop up. I tried all the same stuff and nothing solved the issue on my desktop either.
My wife has been frustrated with her desktop freezing up, so she started playing D3 on her laptop. It worked fine for a couple weeks and the same day my desktop started acting up, her laptop started to have the same problem.
I contacted Blizzard support and they seem to be running me around, checking network settings, uninstalling Razer Synapse, and all the other usual stuff. Nothing has helped. I sent them all the usual MSInfo, DxDiag, and WinMTR stuff.
Here are the specs of the 3 computers with these problems.
Gigabyte B450 Aorus Pro WiFi, Ryzen 5 2600, MSI GTX 1660TI, 16 GB GSkill RAM, 500 GB Crucial P1 NVMe, Windows 10 Pro
Her laptop: MSI GL65, Intel Core i7 10750H, GTX 1650, 16GB GSkill RAM
My desktop: MSI B450 Gaming Pro Carbon AC, Ryzen 5 2600, MSI GTX 1660 Super, 16GB GSkill RAM, 1 TB Crucial P1 NVMe
Windows, drivers, and BIOS's on all computers are up to date.
Network set up: Spectrum 400 Gbps using their provided modem which is brand new as of two days ago, Asus RT-AX58U router.
To recap a few things, network does not seem to be an issue since all three computers freeze whether on Ethernet, WiFi, Verizon MiFi hotspot, or the WiFi hotspot on our phones. All the usual D3 freezing solutions have not worked. Fresh Windows 10 Pro installs on both desktops has not solved anything. Completely removing Razer Synapse hasn't helped on either desktop and her laptop has never had anything Razer related plugged into it.
The only other game my wife plays is Overwatch and she hasn't noticed any freezing issues with that game.
I'm at a complete loss here and any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm an over the road truck driver and I've been spending just about all of my home time trying get this figured out.
