Season 19 Whirlwind Barbarian item guide for new players

diablo6 - Season 19 Whirlwind Barbarian item guide for new players

Introduction

This is a guide for players new to Diablo III or playing Barbarian, it is not perfect, but should give players struggling to cope with the volume of items and builds some direction. I's my first season back in a while so any suggestions and corrections are welcome. This guide is essentially a list of items season 19 Whirlwind Barbarians should acquire, and stat priorities for them. These have been complied from looking at some top rated guides and barbarians gear at the top of the ladder, there are links to some at the end. There are 56 items the player needs to acquire, not including normal gems and Ramaladni's Gift's. With these items you should be able to play most variations of Whirlwind builds for both pushing Greater Rifts, and Speed Farming. If you are playing Barbarian in Season 19, you should be able to use only Whirlwind builds and the items listed here all season.

Because this is a guide for new players, I have chosen no to use any abbreviations, with the exception of "GR" meaning "Greater Rifts", and "Speed" meaning "Speed Farming" as in Nephlaim Rifts or Bounties. You will find one or both of these in (parentheses) behind each item, this indicates which type of build the item is useful for. There is a lot of overlap between the builds and stat priorities, and you can get away with using the exact same items for both your GR and Speed builds. Most of these items are normal drops, meaning most anything in Diablo that drops loot can drop them for you. Where that is not the case I have indicated if the item is obtained by crafting or doing bounties in {curly braces}, you will need to google the item to find specific details of how to acquire it.

The gear section lists the items you want to acquire and equip to yourself broken down by slot. In by the slot location you will see the stat priority for items in that slot written as a comma separated list. They are listed by most important to least starting from the left. Only main stats are listed, by the time secondary stats are worth considering you will know enough not to need this guide. There is a |break| in each of these lists, to the left of that break is the ideal combination of stats you should be aiming for, and you can get all of those stats on the same item. If you get an item with all of the stats before the break, you should re-roll the leftmost stat to its highest possible value, unless Cool Down reduction is listed, in which case you should max out cool down reduction. If you do not have all the stats before the break, you should re-roll a stat not listed, or listed rightmost, for the stats listed leftmost you do not have.

The cube section lists all the items whose legendary power you need to extract. If one of these items is also listed under the gear section, you should wait until you have two of them, and extract the weaker one.

The gems section tells you what kinds of normal and legendary gem you need. For the normal gems you should combine them into the highest tier they can be, while still having enough gems to socket, that are at most 1 tier below your highest combined. For example, it would be better for you to have 3 Imperial Rubies, than 1 Flawless Imperial Ruby and 2 Marquise Rubies. It takes 81 Marquise, or 27 imperial gems to create the highest level gem, so don't worry if it take you a while to get there. The legendary gems only drop from rift guardians in greater rifts, you are guaranteed to get one you do not have each time until you have them all. Try to get them all level up to 25 before trying to max any of them out.

The follower section shows build, items, and stat priority best for your follower. Your follower is mostly only useful for pushing solo GR, they do minimal damage regardless of gear, instead they are there for buffing and de-buffing. As such we are looking for items that have useful effects, and to trigger them and their skills as often as possible. Stat priorities are the same for all slots, Cool Down Reduction is really the only one that matter. Even then, do not stress about getting the best gear for them, maxing rolls, sockets, enchants, gems, ectetera. This is the least researched and most heavily opinion based section, I'm pretty much going off what I knew seasons ago, because by the time this really matters you will know enough not to need my advice. Suggestions for improvements here are greatly appreciated

Weapon Re-rolling Notes

All weapons should come with a "+X-Y Type Damage" rolled on them, do not roll this away for the other stats listed. The damage type of physical, lightning, ect dose not matter, you simply want the highest range possible. That means you will only be able to get 3 of the 4 priority stats listed, this is because you want to add your socket with a "Ramaladni's Gift". This item will add a socket to a weapon without one, allowing you to have 4 main stats + a socket. These are slightly rare to come by at first, so you should save them if you only have two or less for good weapons. A good weapon would preferably be ancient, and come without a socket so you are not rolling that away, as well as have a damage range in to top 30% possible, and have either Strength or Cool Down Reduction.

An example might be an "Ancient Little Rogue" that came with "+1500-1900 Holy Damage", "+900 Strength", "+1,700 Life On Hit", & "+9% Damage". You could then add a socket with a Ramaladni's Gift, and re-roll the life on hit to 10% Cool Down Reduction.
