Hello! I enjoy Diablo 3 very much. I haven’t been playing for long. Only about 60 or 70 hours. I went through a couple of hardcore characters as my first options, which was fun – but they’re dead now. Naturally.

So, for the new season, I decided to make a regular character. Went with the Monk. I got the seasonal reward set. Was plowing through enemies without any strife for a long time, but I seem to have hit a wall at this point.

I have no idea what I’m supposed to do to get stronger. I don’t really understand how loot works. For the past ten hours of gameplay, I haven’t looted a single thing that seems any better than what I’m already using. It’s been even longer since I’ve looted a better weapon. It seems as if every two handed weapon is never any stronger than around 3,500-3,600 DPS for example. Surely I must eventually find a stronger weapon? Is there… something I have to do to weapons to make them stronger? I of course add gems and gems slots to things when I can, but that doesn’t seem to really take me to the “next level”. I’ve seen images of weapons people use in this game that seem to have far higher DPS, not to mention better effects that supplement one of my skills in a highly helpful way. Am I just supposed to do lower level rifts ad nauseam until I finally find one? How long does it take to find one? Does the level and/or difficulty of rifts effect the quality of loot that drops?

I also seem to have a difficult time getting all the pieces for “green text” armor sets that are different from the one I already received for the seasonal rewards. And of the pieces I do obtain (I’ll often find like, the same glove for a particular set over and over), they don’t seem as if they’re “stronger” than what I’m already using. They’re just different.

And what am I supposed to be doing at Kanais Cube (or whatever that cube is called)? Whenever I try to google it, all the information just seems impenetrable to me. There’s also no indication of what’s most important. There’s certainly no in game explanation of what any of the options do. Nor is there even any in game explanation of how to obtain the various crafting materials for the different options. Does one of the options, like, …greatly enhance the stats of my weapons & armor somehow? Is that how I’m supposed to be advancing?

Some other minor/tertiary questions:

1. Am I “supposed” to be playing in groups at this point in the game? If so, how do I do that on Switch? Every time I try to use the only option I see for online play on the main menu, it never actually adds me into a group.

2. With a monk, should I be using a 2 handed weapon, or duel wielding? Is it just a matter of preference? The one handed weapons seem to have far lower DPS, but does the extra attack speed make up for this or something?

3. Seriously just like how the fuck am I supposed to get strong enough to be able to reach/complete GR 70 lol? And what the fuck are primals and ancients? How do you get those? Nothing I have is either “primal” or ancient. I don’t think, anyways.

4. Please share any other tips you can think of that I should know. Maybe I’m so bad at the game that I’m not even asking the right questions, and maybe you know of some important detail that I am obviously ignorant of in all of this.

Thanks!
