fallout 2 - 900 hours played, my favorite farming locations

With authentication servers being a bit wonky right now I figured I'd write up the info in my sticky notes. I see people asking for good farming locations so I figure I'd share what knowledge I've learned. Feel free to ask anything or share more info. I would be happy to learn more points.

I make this post because I love this game and I want it to grow and expand. I hope we can have good discussions and share information with each other.

I'm currently level 457 with 900 hours played. My current build. I play totally solo, so as such the guide reflects that. I'm currently off work with a scapular injury and don't have much of a social life, so Fallout 76 is my enjoyment.

My loadout is 3 different explosive shotguns and a vampires combat rifle. And grenades/mines. My armor is 60% sentinel and 20% food/drink/chem weights with random primary affixes and a lot of AP refresh secondary. I play as efficiently as possible.

I spend all my time farming. I have 3 alts with full stashes of junk. The only things I loot anymore are caps, ammo, legendaries and specific junk. I usually don't loot most mobs as I know what is on each enemies loot table.

Below are my favorite locations, with descriptions as to why I like them.

Highest Legendary spawn locations, unfortunately only these 3 locations provide absolute best results, its almost a guarantee that you will find legendary enemies here:

Whitesprings – we all know this

West Tek – I should count how many mobs spawn in and around the building. It has to be easily 30+. Make sure to check behind the main building.

Watoga – check inside the civic centre, AMS building and EMS hospital

Horde events – check your map often for events in random areas. i often find 3* items from these. Of note a level 5 explosive 10mm pistol and a level 25 instigating/explosive shotgun. Any level horde event is worthwhile.

Best scrap locations – these all include locations with good amounts of screws, plastic, lead etc. the good stuff:

Fort Defiance – so much assorted and highly usable scrap plus straight jackets to sell to vendors. Large amounts of aluminum, plastic and good amounts of ballistic fiber

Watoga/Morgantown high schools – if you're a shotgun user like me, these are your second home. 100+ plastic easily from each area.

Freak Show – 40 plastic and about 70-80 caps if no one has been there yet. Usually spawns beasts, sometimes spawns 2 mirelurk queens.

Lucky Hole Mine – lead ore. so much lead ore

Garrahan mining headquaters – spawns a variety of enemies, sometimes with legendaries, large amounts of various scrap inside and a good chunk of iron ore. easily 100+ iron ore with excavator armor and spamming E.

Garrahan/Hornwright estates – both have a large amount of useful scrap and with garrahan you can spawn on the 3rd floor, climb 2 flights of stairs and a boss or legendary mob spawns.

Robco Research Centre – so much assorted useful scrap inside.

Middle Mountain Cabins, Toxic Larry's and Seneca Rocks motel area – all of these commonly spawn bears/scorpions/snallygasters for quick and easy acid. Toxic Larry's always spawns 3 snallygasters.

Misc mob spawning locations – random spawn points in the world, most with large creatures with directions:

Southeast of Garrahan/Hornwright estates have a large amount of iron ore and a number of houses with farms. These include pumpkin, corn and tatos. In addition it is a high spawn area for large creatures. I've seen Behemoths, Mega Sloths and Deathclaws all spawn here.

North of Kmax/Generals Steakhouse is a tree that spawns Scorched or Super mutants fighting against random aquatic animals. Usually 5+ humanoids vs 5+ aquatics. Fog crawlers, radtoads, gulpers, anglers all spawn here. Sometimes a mega sloth.

West of Big B's Rest stop spawns a variety of different things ranging from a bomb, to mannequins, to deathclaws.

On the road directly south of Huntersville is a crater that always spawns enemies. Right outside this crater spawns animals fighting humanoids. My camp is near this spot and I always check it. Seen Mega Sloths, Deathclaws, Bears, Supers, Scorched and legendaries on occasion.

My Favorite locations:

West tek – first place I visit on any login

Dyer Chemical – I'm always farming Radshields, so usually I take out these robots. The drops are almost always awful here, but on occasion several legendaries pop up.

Crevasse Dam – always spawns super mutants, usually 2 crown enemies with a decent legendary chance. Good spot for lead with 4 tin can chimes in doorways. Also right behind the fast travel point is a random encounter spot. And if you look over the dam towards Thunder Mountain Power Plant 3 Stingwings can been seen in the water. If you kill these from range, then run towards them they respawn instantly. Once per login from my experience.

Sunrise Field and Mac's Farm – I'm always eating cranberry relish so these are my cranberry spots. Both will always spawn a Mirelurk queen, with Sunrise Farm spawning a ton of mirelurks. This is not an area for weaker players.

A normal route for me would include Whitesprings > West Tek > Freak Show > My Camp > Huntersville > Generals Steakhouse > Robco > Dyer Chemical > Crevasse Dam. These are my most farmed locations.
