Edit #2: Warning!! Do NOT start the luancher or click anything on it if you already opened it for the time being! Leave it for now until Bethesda team fix the issue. Those who got their files deleted is probably because they kept pressing buttons on the launcher, so don't do that.
Here's a message from Bethesda support: "PC #Fallout76 B.E.T.A. players: We are aware of an issue with the client and are investigating. Do not click any buttons on the client for the time being"
Edit #3: Some reddit users have reported that backing up your game files to another folder is a good idea in case your files get deleted. It's not yet confirmed if it always works but you should still do it if you're one of the lucky ones who still have the files.
Edit #4: Update from Bethesda support: "PC #Fallout76 B.E.T.A. players: We are investigating an issue affecting B.E.T.A. preloads in the Launcher: If you are actively downloading the Fallout 76 B.E.T.A., or have a visible progress bar, please allow the download to complete" https://twitter.com/BethesdaSupport/status/1057397533121622017?s=20
Just what the title says. Maybe the servers can't handle the load?
Edit #1: for those who don't know the timing on the launcher was misplaced, the beta will begin at the time that was previously announced. but that's still irrelevant to the issue at hand.
