Bethesda – let the game fully load BEFORE we can see anything and more importantly before we start taking damage.

fallout 5 - Bethesda - let the game fully load BEFORE we can see anything and more importantly before we start taking damage.

This is an issue that happens every single time I or any of my friends load the game, either initially or after a disconnect/blue-screen.

You watch a loading screen for a while and then the picture emerges as you load in. You can move, but you can't use a weapon, your AP and health are registering zero while everything catches up. You can move, but in about 5-6 seconds you will freeze completely for a further 8-10 seconds, after that freeze everything is loaded and you now have full control of your character.

Full process from the loading screen vanishing and the game loading, to actually having full control of your character and able to defend yourself – 15-20 seconds or so.

This would be fine ( well no , it wouldn't, this is a live game and 20 seconds of complete vulnerability when you load in is ridiculous) if you loaded into a nice safe area where there are no enemies. This is rarely the case.

During those 20 seconds I have taken damage from invisible enemies that hadn't loaded yet. Loaded enough to see me and damage me but not enough to be visible.

Yesterday I watched a group of lvl 60+charred feral ghouls swarm my team-mate as he loaded back in after a bluescreen. If I wasn't there, he would have died while still loading. As it was he was down to 25% health by the time he was able to move and get his weapon out. And before he could fire he had to take some Radaway as all of them in close proximity had seriously irradiated him in that time.

Bethesda, this is NOT acceptable in a persistent live environment. Once that loading screen disappears the game needs to have loaded. Not a further 20 seconds of loading, all the while taking damage and being able to do absolutely nothing about it.

Read:  I've been rooting for this game. Now it seems Bethesda isn't.

I would much rather the game takes a further 20 seconds of load screens but at the end of that I load in able to control my character, see enemies and be able to defend myself. 20 seconds of complete vulnerability when you load the game is absurd.

While you are at it let us cancel sitting/resting. That is a further 10 seconds of "I have zero control over my character but can still take damage from enemies and dammit I didn't even mean to lie down, I was trying to pick up that bloody note!" Or something like that.

5 second animation to show lying down, a further 5 second animation to show getting back up again. Out in the world when this happens accidentally? That microsecond you spend on the bed may well be enough to give you a disease.

A simple Cancel prompt during that animation would be VASTLY appreciated.
