I was a little disappointed that Fallout 4 didn't have an epilogue like the other game, I wanted to know what happened to the various factions after the War for the Commonwealth. So I wrote up a few blurbs in the style of the New Vegas ending slides. I was considering making more to cover all the different factions, towns, and characters, but I figured I'd just start by describing what happened to the winning faction. Let me know what you think!
Institute victory (benevolent): Under the Sole Survivor's leadership, the Institute was reborn. With a near limitless supply of energy at its disposal, the Institute no longer needed to prey upon surface dwellers for resources; it could finally flourish in its own right. Its researchers turned their attention toward projects that would benefit all of mankind, and shared their miraculous discoveries with the people of the Commonwealth. The Institute's combat synths, once the terror of the Commonwealth, now served as its first line of defense, defending settlements from raiders and other threats. Over time, the Commonwealth's residents grew to trust the Institute, and an enduring partnership blossomed between those above and those below.
Institute victory (neutral): Under the Sole Survivor's leadership, the Institute continued to thrive. With a near limitless supply of energy at its disposal, the Institute no longer needed to prey upon surface dwellers for resources; it could finally flourish in its own right. Its researchers turned their attention toward pushing the known boundaries of science, valuing discovery for its own sake. Lacking concern for worldly matters, they cut off all ties to the surface, dedicating their lives to the endless pursuit of knowledge. Over time, the widespread fear of the Institute subsided, and the organization became little more than a distant memory in the minds of Commonwealth residents.
Institute victory (hostile): Under the Sole Survivor's leadership, the Institute became a far greater threat than it had even been before. With a near limitless supply of energy at its disposal, the Institute no longer needed to prey upon surface dwellers for resources; it could finally flourish in its own right. The time for secrecy and subterfuge was over; the Institute now had the resources to exercise power over the populace in a more direct fashion. With an army of mass-produced combat synths to act as an occupation force, it quickly conquered the region. Seeking to remake the Commonwealth in their own likeness, the Institute's leaders took control of virtually every aspect of people's lives, ruling with brutal efficiency.
Brotherhood victory: With the help of the Sole Survivor, the Brotherhood of Steel took control of the Commonwealth, establishing a quasi-feudal military regime. Knights defended settlements from raiders and other threats, and in exchange, the Commonwealth's residents paid tribute by providing food, supplies, and services. The possession of advanced technology was heavily regulated, and pre-war artifacts were frequently confiscated for Brotherhood use, often by force. Ghouls and super mutants were hunted to near-extinction. Establishing supply lines between the Commonwealth and the Capital Wasteland, the Brotherhood eventually incorporated both regions into a single nation-state spanning the Northeast.
Railroad victory: With the help of the Sole Survivor, the Railroad became the dominant power in the Commonwealth. Many of the newly-freed synths who escaped from the Institute joined the Railroad's ranks. A great number of humans also flocked to the cause, grateful to finally be free from the Institute's grasp. Stepping out of the shadows and into the light, the Railroad openly revealed itself to the masses, making it clear that the oppression of synths would no longer be tolerated. Railroad operatives – both overt and covert – patrolled the Commonwealth, defending synths from slavers, bigots, lynch mobs, and all others who would do them harm.
Minutemen victory: Under the Sole Survivor's leadership, the Minutemen once again became a force to be reckoned with, ready to defend settlements from raiders and other threats at a moment's notice. The people of the Commonwealth could finally thrive, rather than struggling to merely survive. Sensing a newfound opportunity for peace and prosperity, the Commonwealth's settlements formed an alliance for their mutual benefit, and a new Commonwealth Provisional Government emerged. Following in the footsteps of their predecessors, the Commonwealth's residents once more built a society upon the ancient principle of governance by the people, for the people, and of the people.
Nuka-World alternate ending: Under the Sole Survivor's leadership, the raider gangs of Nuka-World took over the Commonwealth by force, brutally conquering its settlements and ruthlessly subjugating its people. Commonwealth residents were rounded up by the hundreds, outfitted with shock collars, and forced into chattel slavery. The invaders kept some of these slaves for their own personal use, and sold the rest for caps, chems, guns, and gear. When the Commonwealth's bountiful resources finally began to dry up, the Nuka-World gangs expanded further outward. Cutting a bloody swath through the entire Northeast, the raiders crushed even more territories beneath their feet, spreading destruction and ruin wherever they went.
