You could also be able to change the name of your camp and it's icon through a terminal connected to the beacon. This would allow you to make your location visible to others, so that when vendors become available, you can actually make a store, draw people to it, and tell them what you're selling before they visit. Would also be neat to have a fast travel target mat, because otherwise people might sometimes accidentally fall to death when they visit my seneca rocks house.
Another reason I would want it to be fast travelable, is because otherwise people wouldn't be able to get to my house at seneca rocks. I'm on the SW peak, and it can only be reached with the marsupial mutation.
EDIT: Regarding fast travel mats not being in the game because "X"; here's a solution that would solve all of the reasons people guess it might not be in the game and/or could/should not be implemented.
- Make it be a foundation piece, that behaves just like a foundation when placed. This would make it less likely to be able to glitch the fast traveling player into unintended places. Also, since it can only be placed where a player could stand, it wouldn't matter, if the CAMP hasn't loaded in yet: there is no floor to fall through and due to it being a foundation, you know that there's ground underneath.
- Make it so that it is the only object, that HAS to be placed outside of the building area, but within 2-5 meters from the edge. This would mean that there is no way to build a trap. You can make a wall of turrets face the fast travel target, but they shouldn't be aggressive on their own. I'm not sure how exactly turrets behave in PvP, but I can see the owner of the camp waiting for you to travel there and then slap you. If slapping aggros your turrets, then that's a problem, but if only counter slaping aggros the turrets, then there's no problem.
