Fallout

Launched my first nuke today. Fully expected it to be a disaster, instead it was one of the best moments I’ve ever experienced in a video game.

fallout 6 - Launched my first nuke today. Fully expected it to be a disaster, instead it was one of the best moments I’ve ever experienced in a video game.

I’m someone that really isn’t a social player in most games. A few minutes into the beta I turned off voice chat and I’ve really only played with other people for short periods when I’ve come across them while exploring.

So when I finally made it to the end of the launch silo, I knew that the smart thing to do would be to nuke the whitesprings to fight more legendaries, but something drove me to aim it at the fissure site prime to at least experience the scorchbeast queen fight at least once, even if I was on my own and had no chance of winning.

I was so nervous I didn’t even go back to my camp to prepare, I foolishly headed straight toward the nuke site. As I get there I see another player a few levels higher than me(I had just hit level 50) and after that people just kept showing up. I think there must have been close to ten or so eventually when the fight started.

I run a shotgun build so I made it my top priority to cripple her wings first and then try cripple her other limbs. This worked pretty well as we were able to keep her on the ground for a good portion of the fight.

Right before it got to the point where she regenerates health though I realized I’m seriously burning through ammo. As the fight goes on I realize I will definitely run out so I look at my inventory and see that as a quest reward for launching the nuke I have a plasma gatling.

Now I’ve never used the gun before and have read on this sub that some people have had issues using it, but I didn’t have a lot of options so I equip it and start firing. Much to my surprise the thing starts doing some serious damage, even without beneficial perks. Only drawback was that I had to run inside the nearby warehouse a few times to repair the thing.

Read:  As a huge fallout fan ive played all of them! yes even that "one" ive got some words.

As the clock keeps ticking I come to terms with the fact that we just aren’t doing enough damage to defeat her in time. It’s ok though because I didn’t go into this with even the expectations of getting this far, and I decide to keep on fighting until she flies away.

As expected the timer counts down to zero, and the queen still had a good 10% of health remaining. So I start figuring out if I have enough stimpacks left to keep fighting other scorched, when I realize something I didn’t expect; the scorch queen hasn’t flown away! She’s back on the ground and everyone is wailing on her so I run over and unload the last of my plasma core while shouting at my television.

We bring her down. I’m at a loss and just absolutely elated. Going into the fight I didn’t anticipate in the slightest that this would happen and honestly wasn’t sure I would ever even participate in the fight before today due to my shyness.

Thank you BGS for making a game that I absolutely love, thanks for anyone that actually took the time to read any of this, and thanks to all the players who came and joined in alongside a random quiet guy who doesn’t even use a mic. I may not talk much but I play on ps4 and my username is brisashi if anyone is interested in tackling some scorched.
