Send More Bobby Pins: A Cautionary Tale

fallout 8 - Send More Bobby Pins: A Cautionary Tale

Like the rest of you, I was super-hyped for the B.E.T.A. I followed the news and updates, read the speculation, and watched videos from the Greenbriar event. I was pumped. Ready to reclaim the wastes.

Unfortunately, the B.E.T.A. started while I was at work, and by the time I got home, 90 minutes had elapsed. Time was of the essence, and I had no time to screw around. I immediately jumped in and spent all of 3 minutes in character creation. I raced through Vault 76 picking up all of the necessary items along the way. Or so I thought. Then, I exited the vault and could now truly drink the glorious beauty of West Virginia.

I fought scorched. I slew bee swarms and mole rats. I became a Responder Volunteer. I even took part in a couple of events. I had enough weapons, ammunition, and food to survive a second apocalypse. I was on top of the world. That is until i came to a door. It was marked with lockpick skill 0. Sweet, I can do that! Then I tried, and a message appeared saying "no Bobby pins".

Somehow, in nearly 2 hours, I managed to not find one Bobby pin. In fact, in my haste, I missed the one in Vault 76 completely. It wasn't until about 20 minutes later that I found one in Morgantown High School. So, now I have one single Bobby pin.

Let this be a lesson: keep a sharp eye out for Bobby pins. They don't seem to be as common. That, or I'm a complete id*ot.

The game is seriously amazing. Bethesda did one hell of a job. Can't wait to play again!
