The ultimate pacifist’s guide to Nuclear Winter grinding

fallout 3 - The ultimate pacifist's guide to Nuclear Winter grinding

DISCLAIMER; this guide is to only be used for good. Do not try and use these tactics to snipe victories, I put them forth in good faith and wish them to be used as such. They will not even be effective for victory sniping as while you're wasting time and perk cards to hide, xXxb00tysn1prxXx and his 3 level 200 teammates all went and got auto grenade launchers and handmades. Use these for your own entertainment and that sweet, sweet time survived XP, nothing more.

We all know the classic bush wookie, but that my friends is only the shallow end. This well runs deep so let's take a dive. When the bushes get boring try pacifist runs with the following strategies in increasing difficulty and entertainment value;

The River Rat – Hang out in the lake/river in Morgantown with aquaboy/aquagirl. Easiest way to pass time during the first few minutes, but generally doesn't have much longevity due to circle movement. Undoable in Flatwoods.

The Stump Shrew – Find a large stump in Flatwoods, jump inside and use the Lotus pose to disappear. Make sure you don't have any bright headwear on first!

The Tree Frog – Use frog legs to hop into one of those split trees common around north Morgantown or the lower slopes of Flatwoods. No one ever looks up them.

The Cliff Chimp – Find a vertical rock surface, climb up or drop down to wedge yourself in a nook or cranny above halfway up. Strike a photomode pose for extra stealth.

The Corpse Crawler – Only practical late game. Once the large beasties show up near the end they tend to fall pretty quickly. A good corpse placement and opportunist run can get you to the body first. Place yourself correct with a squat and you'll clip and disappear into it entirely out of sight. This will also get you real up close and personal with the other players coming to loot. Bathe in the risk and observe them in their natural habitat.

The Photo Opposum – Go to a spot that's in plain sight but slightly out of where you'd look for opponents and strike a photomode pose to play dead. Laying Down and Lotus are your 2 best bets. My favorite spot is the Apartments sign in Morgantown. The more obvious the better!

The Shadow – The ultimate endgame. When there's only 1 person or team left, wait for them to turn around and follow directly behind them, mimicking their every move. This is easiest in 3rd person. The longer you can go, the more hilarious it is.

Other etiquette tips;

Do not team fill! Unless you have friends specifically in the know and playing along with you, play solo.

Dress for the occasion. None of that edgy skull or militant shit, you're a peace lover. My personal favorite attire is the flowery Easter bonnet and flapper dress. Other suggestions include summer shorts, fruit hat, headwrap, roadtripper outfit or just your undies.

Do not pick up a single item. Ever. This way when you die you'll witness the utter disappointment and confusion as your killers runs to your body to try and find a loot bag only to receive nothing but the emptiness of their sins.

Flight over fight. Always, always, always. It's a good idea to have perks like marathoner and action boy/girl at the ready. Most players aren't up for a chase so blind speed can get you out of sticky situations.

Go forth and grind those ranks you beautiful people and remember to keep it clean.
