It's been a while but I couldn't stay gone forever… I had a lot of fun building a brahmin launcher, playing brahmin toss and getting down at the brahmin disco during my soul sojourn… but those truly weren't my usual fair. I felt a calling to return to my roots. A call to the void. Some of my past creations include Murder Church, the Player Oven and the Deathclaw Maze… it's been awhile, Appalachia… welcome, to the "Surplus Warehouse".



Appalachia is full of lunatics.

I've had this idea for a few months and had been tinkering with it on and off. Mostly trying to find ways to actually do something or anything at all. There were quite a few bugs (pun intended) and other considerations with some of the camp set up that made it extremely difficult to both set up and pull off.

One of the biggest issues being that the mobs won't path through any kind of door (manual or electronic) including the garage door. I had set up a system to destroy the walls and release them but they won't path through destroyed walls either. There were a number of cleaner/cooler iterations that would have much cooler but sadly they just didn't work.

The second biggest issue is that spawning bloatflies doesn't work consistently and probably about 1 in 10 are actually aggressive. I don't know if this is a bug that they're not aggressive or a bug that they're aggressive at all. In any case, to get a size-able swarm of aggressive bugs actually requires you to kill dozens if not hundreds as you respawn them over and over.

The third issue was actually holding them inside a camp building… aggressive bugs destroy whatever camp object they become interested in and a swarm of two dozen turns a camp to rubble in under a minute. My solution to this was to layer the interior of the warehouse with paintings and use them like scales that would flake away as bloatflies destroyed them. Although bloatflies do very little damage once you have a couple dozen of them they start doing real damage and even with exterminator armor it cost me a lot of aid and food items to stay in the warehouse. At some point I went from 120 stimpaks to 0.

several months ago which I'd kept in the back of my mind for a future camp build. I combined some of his knowledge with a few of my own tricks to make this monstrosity.
