Far Cry 5

Anyone tried Infamous with no HUD? It felt much more immersive and intense not having the detection meter or knowing where enemies are.

When I started New Game+ and was free to roam around Hope County, it immediately felt like I was actually fighting a deadly cult and had to be careful about what I do and pick fights carefully. Driving a car in cult controlled territories was difficult due to roadblocks and Infamous' combat settings so I was forced to walk on foot. Eventually got Boomer after being clubbed to death inside the farmhouse when two Peggies heard me liberating the farm.

Outposts definitely wouldn't be possible with just Boomer since no HUD meant no spotting and I could easily get surrounded without backup. Decided to head to Fall's End using the road sign and had to duck behind bushes multiple times to avoid Peggy patrols. Saw a hostage with only one guard and had no trouble taking care of the Peggy with a .50 Cal.

But my efforts would be in vain as moments after I freed the hostage and went on my way, a Peggy patrol came around the bend and made quick work of the civilian before I could do anything. Then I was forced to retreat into a small ravine as Peggies began to search the road for any sign of their buddy's killer.

After sneaking my way past several more patrols and a Peggie checkpoint, I made it to Fall's End. The moment a lone sniper's head turned into red mist was the moment total chaos broke out. Aside from the Peggies wielding bats and running in a straight line towards someone armed with a .50 Cal, it would be difficult to liberate the town of the small cult army.

Without a nice red triangle or outline, the Peggies tend to blend in well with the environment which meant most of the time I had to guess where Peggies were base on the bullets hitting the ground and where a Peggy might be hiding. So I could be running across the street to Spread Eagle, see bullet fly from my right, make my way behind Spread Eagle, peek out from the corner towards a building across from the garage, and fire (MP5 this time) at the fence where I could see a glimpse of some dirty white clothing. Without a HUD there's no way to know if you killed someone or not. But I heard someone howl in agony and scream for help.

I moved on and cleared each building and property one by one because there was no way to know just how many Peggies there were and where they were. The battle wouldn't last long after a fight with an enemy plane as Jerome had found a rocket launcher and proceeded to spam rockets until the Liberated cutscene played.

I highly recommend playing Infamous with no HUD if you want an immersive playthrough. Of course if you have an OP weapon or is just a walking armory in general then you might not feel any danger. I purposely avoided weapons that would make it too easy.
