Chained bullet damage of the Founder’s Revolt

Currently there seems to be a lot of confusion about the Founder’s Revolt, so I decided to do some tests instead of just complaining.

The chained bullet seems to have a damage multiplier of 1.8. This means that if you hit a body shot with the Revolt, the chained bullet does 180% damage to the second target.

If you hit a headshot, the first bullet does 175% damage (the Revolt has a headshot multiplier of 1.75) and the chained bullet does 180% damage of the first one. This means that the chained bullet does 315% damage (1.75 x 1.8) of a normal body shot.

Modifiers for crits and elemental husks are applied a second time for the chained bullet. If a shot crits, the damage of the chained bullet is 270% (1.8 x 1.5) of the crit damage (for a total of 405%). Note that this is only true if you don’t have a crit damage perk.

If your Revolt is energy and you are fighting elemental husks, the first bullet does 75% damage and the chained bullet 135% (0.7 x 1.8) of this reduced value.

If you use T.E.D.D. Shot Jess as your commander or as a support hero, only the headshots of the first bullet will count towards the fragment generation. The chained bullet does NOT count as a headshot, even if the first bullet is one.

In this video from David Dean (May 2018) the damage multiplier of the chained bullet seems to be 1.54:

And in this video from SlyGumbi (June 2018) the damage multiplier of the chained bullet is 1.3:

I don’t know why there is a difference and unfortunately, I haven’t found any recent numbers regarding the damage of the chained bullet yet. Please comment if you have some!

Table with the raw values from my tests:

Damage of the first bulletDamage of the chained bullet
Normal husks (both targets)909116364
Elemental husks (both targets)68189205
Normal husks + headshot1591028638
Normal husks + crit1363736820

The perks of my Revolt are DMG, Mag size, Energy, DMG and Reload speed.

With these numbers it seems like the Founder’s Revolt actually got buffed in damage, even if the chained bullets do not count as headshots. It is still a great gun. I hope this post is useful and can clear up some of the confusion. 🙂

TL;DR: The chained bullet does 80% more damage than the first one. Modifiers for husk elements and crits are applied a second time for the chained bullet. The chained bullet does NOT count as a headshot.
