Comparison of the new SSD Loading Screen vs In Game

FortniteBattleRoyale5 - Comparison of the new SSD Loading Screen vs In Game

So last update brought some new art for loading screens depending on which biome you're in and I love them I really do. But when I went to solo TP SSD4 last night I noticed an oddity. I brought it up in another post cause I thought it was funny (honestly everything about this is no big deal and so minor you don't even need to actually fix it, who cares? lol) and that was removed but a comment on it got me thinking so I decided to go see how the loading screen art compared to in game. And I figured with all this time on my hands right now with nothing better to do, why not make this post for fun?

Overall it looks nice, beautiful. Like I said, I love all this new art (as far as I can tell they're all in game screenshots)

Storm Shield looks a little squashed. Older model maybe? I'm actually in the wrong spot. I should be back a bit further and to the left some. Also yes officer I will come in for my crimes against nature 🙁

Very good, beautiful again. Lots of nice trees to look at.

Here's where we start running into the first of the big differences. As you can see the Storm Shield is actually on the far left and can barely be seen. The loading screen has it moved slightly towards the water. Not that far but not that big of a deal. Also differences in fov and such just slightly change things up.

Desert and a little spooky. Not much to say.

Now here's where things get really weird, this is probably the biggest difference out of all of them. I thought at first it was just in the normal spot but then I used some things in the background from the loading art. Specifically I used the skybox. A large mountain, two smaller to the left and one horizontal pointing slightly up. But here's the problem. That version doesn't exist in the skybox. Compare the first screenshot to the second and you noticed that I found the formation in the skybox but it's flipped. Then I found a formation that's slightly like the one on the right in the screenshot and figured this is the most likely spot. But where am I?

Here I am!

As you can see I am pretty far away from where the Storm Shield actually is. You can also notice that the big mountain that's not in the skybox in the in game screenshot is not present in the loading screen one. Wonder what the map looks like when the loading screen art looks like.

The whole reason for this post. I originally thought this was the biggest difference but as we just saw, it's not.

Just south of the actual Storm Shield is where it's depicted in the loading screen. Not that hard to match it up.

Conclusion

As I said before, this is all really no big deal. I find it more interesting since these look like in game screenshots which hints at previous builds where the storm shield was situated differently. Or maybe they just moved the Storm Shield specifically for the loading screens. It's impossible to tell since I'm not an Epic employee.

In the Stonewood one I mentioned that the Storm Shield looks a bit squashed and you can see in all the loading screens compared to in game that they're all squashed. Whether this is due to a different vertical fov is hard to tell as well since there's not that much of a difference. I'm sure I could easily open photoshop and resize them to figure out the exact percentages and what not but I'm not gonna do that.
