Epic Games is shutting down Save the World development (but not the entire project, people will still be able to play the game) on Thursday. Even though it was not outright stated, that's basically the message that was given. "We're slowing down development" was directly said though, and we all know that if the Save the World teams themselves say it then it's going to be really bad. That coupled with reasons that others have posted about (like free founder's pack upgrades and "The story is Over for STW but the Adventure is not), they're strongly hinting that STW's development is going to be cancelled, and basically spelling it out.
I'm glad they were honest. No more bullshit, false promises, false hopes, and outright lies from Epic Games. Just the truth. That they don't care about Save the World anymore and are beginning to pull some plugs. Not like they cared much in the first place, but at least they did a tiny bit. Now, STW is going to be a full-on automatically updated experience, every update will be a slightly more substantial "content update" with new features, mission types, and even heroes & weapons being extremely rare, if they become features at all.
I'm glad the "Things will get better next season" or "next update is the one" train has pulled into it's final station. We got the truth we wanted. Imagine if they said that Twine peaks was still happening, or that they were still adding things, but didn't? I'm glad Epic Games is telling the truth now, even if it's incredibly sad and something we don't want to hear.
As for what I'll do now, I'll probably move away from STW and work on my life. I've been trying for the past 3 weeks or so to lose weight and I'm making a bit of progress! Going for walks are incredibly fun and relaxing, and I follow the HydroHomies subreddit too to remind myself to drink more water. I might get a job too, since restrictions are lessening in my area. But I think I'm ready to wrap things up for Save the World. It's been a game I've played for just under 3 years now, and I've contributed to this subreddit since Season 5 in 2018. While this is sad to hear, and not the end of STW, it's the end of its development and it may be splitting from the BR mode. I'm ready to wrap it up, now. I'm glad Epic Games is giving us the truth we needed to hear, that they just won't be/aren't supporting a game that's been on life support for so long now. It's so much better, and freeing, than "We're working on it" or "guys next season will be great" or other lies that Epic Games propogated in the past.
It's been an honor playing with you guys in game and having discussions on reddit. Take care. While probably not, this might be my last Fortnite related post. -Scams
