The Ice King is a Constructor that I really like when it comes to his character, design, and perk; but it kind of sucks that he delivers probably one of the worst defensive B.A.S.E.s when he is slotted as a commander. His commander perk is:
- Enemies standing on structures affected by B.A.S.E. are Snared by 15%. Enemies that damage a structure affected by B.A.S.E. are Frozen for 4 seconds. Each enemy can be Frozen once every 15 seconds.
Seems great, right? Well, thanks to a reply I saw by u/gregparso, there's a bit of fine print when it comes to Ice King's commander perk. It doesn't proc on husks that attack inverted ramps, which is a core part of a lot of standard objective defenses. In fact, the only husk, or rather Mist Monster, that gets frozen when they attack inverted ramps are smashers. That's awesome, right? Not really. Smashers immediately hit the structure they were about to hit after they thaw out. How does that make any sense? Shouldn't the way it work make it so that the smasher doesn't hit the structure at all once he thaws out?
This bug and completely BS feature cripple Ice King's ability to be an effective defensive Constructor. Why use a buggy and inconsistent commander when you can use one of the 3 top defensive B.A.S.E. Constructors being B.A.S.E. Kyle, Power B.A.S.E. Knox, and MEGA B.A.S.E. Kyle? Some suggestions I have to help Ice King out are:
Fix the bug where the husks don't get frozen when they attack an inverted ramp that is affected by Ice King's B.A.S.E.Загрузка...
-Fixing this bug would definitely improve Ice King's effectiveness since it'll actually work the way it was intended to be
Make it so that smashers don't immediately hurt the structure they were charging at right after
they get thawed out.
-It just makes sense. Ice King is meant to freeze and stop pesky smashers from bringing down the walls.
Give his commander perk an additional effect.
-This would be my idea on an additional effect to Ice King's commander perk:
- Enemies standing on structures affected by B.A.S.E. are Snared by 15%. Enemies that damage a structure affected by B.A.S.E. are Frozen for 4 seconds. Each enemy can be Frozen once every 15 seconds. Enemy projectiles that would have damaged or touched a structure affected by B.A.S.E. are Frozen for 4 seconds and proceed to Shatter, causing them to be destroyed.
Projectiles include lobber skulls/beehives, husks that Flingers throw, propane tanks, and pitcher bones. This new effect will also make Ice King into a very viable defensive Constructor commander, instead of being completely overshadowed by the top 3 defensive Constructors. NOTE: This new effect is just a suggestion and any constructive feedback towards this would be appreciated. I would love to hear what the community has to think about it. Thank you 🙂
