I'm tired of starting missions without timers like DtB and FtS, where people want to casually farm, afk, look for quest items for an extended period and then start. We are all on different schedules, I go private to farm and usually do my quests in lower missions however if not, I only allocate a short period to questing and like to be considerate of my peers and focus on the objective.
So I was thinking of a way to refocus the effort on fulfilling the mission objective before anything else or limiting how long you can be in a mission. My first idea was to designate the first five minutes to quests/farming and thereafter the game automatically initiates a timer to start the objective but if there is unanimity, you can all vote to extend this. After this period expires, all quest items will despawn and it will direct you to do the objective. However, this can be punishing and complicated, and another voting option may not be ideal.
I then settled on a system that puts emphasis on fulfilling the objective immediately upon arrival, and provides a vote-free individual option to farm and quest for an unlimited amount of time thereafter. After "Victory" is displayed, instead of being pulled out, a bot appears that you can activate to exit the mission and claim your rewards. However, alternatively you can stay in the mission and farm and collect quest items, even after everyone has left. This would provide people that want to just do missions a faster way to do so, people that want to farm/quest for extended periods that freedom and ultimately (likely) discourage leechers/afkers/taxis, because the items will only remain in your inventory if you succeed. To combat people selling access to the post-mission world, no one can join.
Side note, farming mode aka private is still an option and people can farm there, exit the mission and still keep any non-quest items acquired. This is more about sending a message, if you want farm, go do it privately and if you want to farm or quest during a mission, you need to first complete the mission so you're not inconveniencing other players.
I'm sure there are problems or scenarios I didn't envision, so please feel free to discuss. However, I do think this is a problem that needs some attention and could be a remedy to multiple problems we all experience.
