Well, normally I just stick to the Fortnite forums, but I was encouraged to toss the idea here too to try and get some traction. Figured why the heck not.

The basic idea is being able to transform the Storm Shield amplifiers into specialty buildings which provide various resources over time. The production isn't meant to eliminate the grind, but to help cut some of the edge of it. Each facility can be upgraded to enhance its performance or generate additional things. They can also be reverted back to an amplifier for a small amount of resources, so that obsolete facilities can be removed and then replaced by more relevant ones.

While each facility has periodic yields, a player can spend resources on a facility to fill a boost bar. The higher the material rarity, the more it fills the bar. The bar either drains over time and decreases the time before the facility gives yields, or it is reduced in segments when the facility completes a cycle and boosts the yield output. This would also take a bite out of some of the Trading drive, as now all materials are still useful to the player.

In addition, this could lead to occasionally launching "Imminent Attack" missions where husks are attacking one of your facilities. If you do not do the mission in time, or you fail the mission, the targeted facility is damaged; it loses a tier and any progress it has stored, or is flat out destroyed if it was at tier 1.

As for the facilities themselves:

Survivor School Generates a small amount of Survivor Experience.

Training Ground Generates a small amount of Hero Experience.

Technician Lab Generates a small amount of Schematic Experience.

Research Lab Generates a small amount of Research.

Recruitment Center Generates a small amount of People.

Tinkerer's Workshop Generates a small amount of Re-Perk. At highest tier, also generates Perk-Up, its rarity based on the storm shield's location.

Machinery Shop Generates Nuts'n'Bolts. At highest tier, also generates Mechanical Parts based on location.

Greenhouse Generates Herbs. Upgrades allow it to generate Flowers and Honey.

Refinery Generates Rough Ore. Upgrades to generate Quartz and Powders based on location.

Lumber Mill Generates Planks. Upgrades allow it to generate Coal and Twine based on location..

Education Center Allows you to reroll a survivor's bonus. The highest survivor rarity you can affect is based on the Storm Shield's location. At highest upgrade, allows you to pick the survivor's bonus but takes significantly longer to finish.

Psychologist's Office Allows you to reroll a survivor's personality. The highest survivor rarity you can affect is based on the Storm Shield's location. At highest upgrade, you can choose to pick the survivor's personality, but takes significantly longer to finish
