After soaking up all the posts about Epic's obvious neglect of STW, I realize the main thing that is driving everyone wild.
Epic Games has no interest in properly communicating with its players when it comes to STW. If this was not an early access title, the game would never have been finished. To be completely realistic, STW & BR probably wouldn't even exist if it wasn't for the ability to make something "early access".
And here we are, literally paying for it. We have a game that is in this awkward state of development, VERY similar to H1Z1's "Just Survive". In fact, it's almost scary how similar the situation is. (By the way, Just Survive JUST RECENTLY got shut down entirely).
I think that we as gamers need to take responsibility starting today. Early Access is an empty promise that, (much more often than not), ends up broken because of the very nature. We are indirectly allowing for this same thing to happen over and over again.
Early Access will almost never make the games we hope and dream for. At its very core, it stunts growth and productivity. There is no reason to work hard when the money is already pocketed. It leaves game developers with the ability to slack off without worry. It creates a heaping mess like STW.
Think about it like this, if STW's developers were not already paid for by early access or BR's success, this game would be flying in terms of progression & polish. There would be so much more getting done every day if the quality of their content is what brought home the bacon, but it's not. There is absolutely NO reason for them to work hard, and they don't.
So, in short, say no to early access from now on. Spread the word, so we can take back the industry we all know and love. And next time that we have an unfinished game release its "more popular other half", you know how NOT to make the same mistakes again.
Cheers to my fellow gamers.
