This week's Tavern Brawl has been awesome. I've spent 1600 Dust on various Wild cards I didn't own that are crap in the Wild meta game just to have new toys to play with and make fun new decks for this one Tavern Brawl. I do not regret it one bit, this is easily my favorite Tavern Brawl of all time and I've had a blast playing it.
Yes now that the "meta" has become a bit more settled it's not the most amazing format ever. Mech Hunter and Odd Paladin are the two strongest decks, but there's definitely other ways to play that are fun (I've been enjoying Even Paladin and Even Mage a lot). Still the process of figuring it all out for a week and experimenting has been a ton of fun.
But, I do understand people who don't have Wild collections complaints about the Brawl. I think a Wild Pauper or Peasant Brawl would help this quite nicely. For those that don't know, Pauper is a commons only format and Peasant is Commons and Rares only. Either way it would be super cheap if you wanted to craft cards to experiment with decks. I'm sure it would lead to another degenerate "solved" meta by the end of the week, but it would sure be fun to play around in until then. And hopefully, it would allow people who wanted to the opportunity to participate in the experimentation at not much dust cost.
I really hope Blizzard does more Brawls like this. More ways to play with the cards I already own I would greatly prefer to just getting more new cards all the time.
