Most of us got into this game because of heroes like Abathur, Murky, Lost Vikings, and more. We were tired of overly serious games like League demanding an hour of time just to be stressed out for most of it.
When this game was being developed it was often compared to Smash Bros with it's crazy objectives, maps, and silliness. It was more of a party game than it was an esport. I know I personally loved the non-serious nature in the beginning.
With this change you have an amazing opportunity to bring this game back to its roots. No longer do you need to worry about OP heroes destroying tournaments or the game not being the next DotA. You've been relieved of any obligation to take this seriously and do something incredible with the limited resources you have.
Look at StarCraft and how it came back into the spotlight when they doubled down on crazy commanders with OP abilities and fan service like the arcade. Look at Diablo adding ridiculous new sets with OP powers that do thousands of times more damage to wipe screens of monsters. When developers are allowed to just go ham with crazy ideas they can do awesome things.
Esports is done and you no longer need to be limited by pro players and expectations. This is the best time to bring this game back to what it was meant to be.
