Heroes of the Storm

[Hero Rework] Nova

Loading...

Announcement: I've already posted this rework on US Official Forums, so if you are used to look at Reddit and US Forums, you might have seen it already.

Goals

  • Grants Wave Clear to Nova.
  • Change her escape so that it doesn’t increase the number of Activable Ability in her Kit, and if possible, to make it even more hard to know which is the real Nova between her and her Decoy.
  • Increase her Skill Cap by rewarding even more Players able to reach and keep all stacks of Snipe.
  • Give new talents linked to her Snipe mechanic, and utility talents (similar to her Bribe).

Abilities

Ghost Protocol (1)

  • Removed.

Permanent Cloak (Trait)

  • No longer grants 15% Movement Speed.

Snipe (Q)

  • Damage increased from 230 (+4% per level) to 240 (+4% per level).
  • Mana cost increased from 50 to 70.
  • Range increased from 10.8725 to 12.0 (to match with Nova's Sight Radius).
  • Maximum number of stacks increased from 5 to 6.
  • Bonus damage per stack reduced from 6% to 5%.
  • Bonus damage when reaching the maximum number of stacks increased from 25% to 30%.
    • Comment: The result is that you gain 60% damage when reaching the maximum number of stacks, which increased from 5 to 6, which means it's harder to get the maximum number (skillcap increased) for a little up in terms of damage.
  • Added functionality:
    • Snipe pierces every Minions, Mercenaries and Monsters hit.
      • Comment: Almost no Assassins without wave clear are popular, they need to bring utility by killing minions, more or less well. In Nova's case, she cries in front of 7 minions, she cannot stay in this state as an Assassin. Another option would be to add in baselane the talent Explosive Rounds.

Pinning Shot (W)

  • Damage increased from 100 (+4% per level) to 105 (+4% per level), to match with Nova’s Basic Attacks.
  • Slow duration reduced from 2.25 to 2 seconds.
  • Added functionality:
    • Nova’s next Basic Attack after using Pinning Shot will strike immediately.

Holo Decoy (E)

  • Cooldown increased from 15 to 16 seconds.
  • Duration reduced from 5 seconds to 4 seconds.
  • Mana cost increased from 50 to 60.
  • Added functionality:
    • After 1 second, you can re-activate Holo Decoy to switch places with your Decoy.

Comment: This functionnality has been added to replace the Movement Speed while under Cloaking, and the activable Ability Ghost Protocol which added an escape to Nova. Though, this new addition will bring mind games and can be much more interesting if played correctly than Ghost Protocol.

Triple Tap (R1)

  • New functionality: Triple Tap (Q/R1)
    • Assume a sniping position, gaining the ability to fire up to 3 Snipe rounds with unlimited range. Rounds stop after hitting the first enemy Heroes and collide with enemy Structures in their path. Each of these Snipe shots deal 240 damage (+4% per level), and benefit of the bonus damage of Snipe. All stacks of Snipe are lost if Triple Tap fails to hit an enemy Heroes, Minions, Mercenaries or Monsters.
    • !Passive: Increase the bonus damage of each stack of Snipe from 5% to 7%, up to 42%. When reaching 6 stacks, gain an additional 38% bonus damage instead of 30%.
    • Cooldown between each Snipe: 1 second.
    • Cooldown: 100 seconds.
    • Mana Cost: 100.

Comment: Triple Tap needs a rework because this Ability is as much frustating for the target whenever he has no answer to escape or protect himself with a Building as for Nova players who watch their target being protected by a Wall and cannot do anything to counter this. With this new Ultimate (really similar to Eye of Horus), players will be able to aim (unlike now) and be rewarded for their skills. In addition to that, it increases the power of the Q Build, which will reworked below.

Precision Strike (R2)

  • Cooldown increased from 60 to 80 seconds.
  • Damage reduced from 435 (+4% per level) to 400 (+4% per level).
  • Added functionality:
    • Precision Strike instantly kills Minions hit.
    • Precision Strike deals 50% additional damage to enemies hit in its center (2.0 radius).

Comment: Precision Strike is known to be used to Wave Clear, as Nova has not any other AOE to do so. I've kept this identity while also adding a Reward for Players able to follow up a CC and hit their target at the center of the Ultimate and increases the Skillcap.

Talents

Level 1

  • Anti-Armor Shells (Passive)
    • Moved from level 7.
    • New functionality:
      • Snipe and Triple Tap ignore Armor, Basic Attacks deal 50% more damage to Shields. Holo Decoy does not benefit this talent.
      • !Passive: If you hit an enemy with Snipe, refunds 50% of its Mana cost, increased to 100% if you hit a Hero.

  • Holo Stability (E)
    • Moved from level 4.
    • New functionality: Holo Stability (E/Trait)
      • Increase by 50% the Sight Radius of Nova and her Decoy.
      • For the first 2 seconds after using Holo Decoy, Nova and her Decoy can see through obstacles, bushes and Stealthed enemies.
      • !Passive: Increase the cast range of Holo Decoy by 50%.

  • Cover Mission (Active)
    • Moved from level 4.
    • Maximum number of stacks increased from 100 to 120.
    • Stacks granted per Takedowns increased from 25 to 40.
    • Number of stacks needed to defeat a single Mercenary increased from 25 to 30.
    • No longer makes respawn 50% faster Mercenaries when entirely defeated by Bribe.

  • New talent: Mortal Round (W)
    • Pinning Shot reduces the healing received by 40% for the Slow duration if used while Stealthed or within 1 second after losing Stealth. Holo Decoy does not benefit this talent.

Comment: Every level 1 talents have been reworked so that it grants Utility to Nova and her team.

Anti-Armor Shells is designed to counter Armor and Shields, which is really situational.

Holo Stability acts like the old Scouting Drone or more or less like Gall's Eye of Kilrogg which is really useful at high level of play, where vision is really important.

Cover Mission has been slightly changed so that it rewards more the Players able to kill instead of soaking.

The new talent Mortal Round has been designed to counter Double Support comps, or supports with a high amount of single-target healing like Morales for example.

Level 4

  • Advanced Cloaking (Trait)
    • Moved from level 1.
    • New functionality:
      • Increase your Movement Speed while using your Mount by 10%.
      • !Reward: While at 6 stacks of Snipe, mounting is instant and no longer breaks Permanent Cloak.

  • Apollo Suit (Trait)
    • Moved from level 20.
    • Cooldown reduction reduced from 2 to 1.5 seconds.
    • Added functionality:
      • Gain 50 Armor for 1.5 seconds after losing Stealth.
      • Holo Decoy does not benefit this talent.

  • Rapid Projection (E)
    • New functionality: Rapid Projection (Q/E)
      • Hitting an enemy Hero with Snipe reduces the cooldown of Holo Decoy by 8 seconds.
      • !Passive: Remove Holo Decoy’s Mana cost.

Comment: Every level 4 talents have been designed so that it increases Nova's Mobility or Sustainability

Advanced Cloaking now affects the Mount, which is a key element for a Roamer like Nova, Zeratul, Valeera etc… As it allows Players to rotate and kill faster, to prevent the enemy team to rotate safely.

Apollo Suit is now a great Anti-Burst talent for Nova, who is still really weak once spotted, as her HP Pool has not been increased in this rework.

Finally, Rapid Projection rewards Players able to hit with their Q Spell.

Level 7

  • New talent: Ghost Reload (Q/R1)
    • Swap places with her Decoy resets the cooldown of Snipe.
    • !Passive: Snipe and Triple Tap grant an additional stack of Precision Sniper.

  • Perfect Shot (Q)
    • New functionality: Perfect Shot (W)
      • !Repeatable Quest: Hitting an enemy Hero with Snipe or Triple Tap permanently increases the damage of Nova’s Basic Attack and Pinning Shot by 2.
      • This bonus damage is increased to 4 while having 6 stacks of Snipe.

  • Explosive Round (Q)
    • Moved from level 16.
    • Functionality adapted and renamed: Railgun (Q/R1)
      • Snipe and Triple Tap deal 80% damage to enemies near the impact if you hit a Hero. Holo Decoy does not benefit this talent.

Загрузка...
  • New talent: Phantom Force (Passive)
    • !Quest: Takedowns increases all damage Nova deals by 2%, up to 20%. Dying halves this bonus damage. Holo Decoy does not benefit this talent.

Comment: All level 7 talents are intended to increase Nova's Damage output.

Ghost Reload has been designed so that it works really well with Rapid Projection at level 4, as it creates the following combo: Summon your Decoy (16s CD), hit with your Q Spell a Hero (Holo Decoy's cooldown reduced to 8 thanks to level 4), Swap places with your Decoy, your Q Spell's CD is refreshed, hit a second time a Hero with your Q, your E Cooldown is reduced from 8 to 0s, summon another Decoy, and after 1s, go away by swaping place again while landing a third Q Spell if your target is still alive, though in this simulation, it does not take into account the fact that Nova Players have to hit (at least) twice with their Q Spell, which can be hard sometimes.

Perfect Shot has been reworked to create a W Build based on Basic Attacks, where Q Build is linked to Triple Tap and Holo Decoy. Though, this Quest can only be stacked if the Player is skilled enough to hit with his Q Spell.

Next talent: Explosive Round which has been renamed to make revive an old talent "Railgun" which had the following effect: Snipe penetrates through the first enemy hit and deals 50% damage to subsequent targets. Snipe cooldown is reduced by 1 second for each target hit. By the way, I'm taking advantage that Triple Tap is reworked to link it with Snipe and its talents. This talent has been designed to allow Nova to deal AOE Damage during teamfights if enemies are often close to each other.

Finally, Phantom Force is the only talent designed that does not require Skill for the Player to increase his damage. You only need to assist for a kill to gain the bonuses. Though, it punishes the Player for dying.

Level 13

  • Covert Ops (W)
    • Moved from level 1.
    • New functionality: Covert Ops (Q/W)
      • Hitting an enemy Hero with Snipe or Triple Tap while this Hero is Slowed by Pinning Shot increases the Slow amount to 60% for its duration.
      • !Reward: While at 6 stacks of Snipe, increase Pinning Shot’s Slow duration by 1 second.

  • Longshot (W)
    • Moved from level 1.
    • Adjusted functionality: Longshot (Q/W)
      • While Stealthed and for 1 second after losing Stealth, increase the range of Nova’s next Basic Attack and Pinning Shot by 30%.
      • Hitting an enemy Hero with Snipe or Triple Tap increases the range of all your Basic Attacks by 30% for 3 seconds.

  • Double Tap (W)
    • No longer increases the cooldown of Pinning Shot.
    • Pinning Shot has now a 3 second cooldown between uses.

  • Psionic Efficiency (Q)
    • Removed.

  • Ionic Force Field (Trait)
    • Removed.

Comment: Level 13 talent has been changed by following a bit the same way of design as Varian's Banners or Leoric's level 4/7: All talents are designed for Pinning Shot, though it can be useful to every Build.

Covert Ops can be powerful with Q Build in case you need to hit multiple times an enemy with your Snipe, and increases Nova's CC abilities.

Longshot has still the same Design: Increase Nova's Range and is really powerful with a W/AA Build.

Finally, Double Tap still exists and can allow Nova to control multiple opponents during Team Fights.

Level 16

  • New talent: Sitting Duck (Q/R1/R2)
    • Snipe deals bonus damage to Heroes equal to 5% of their missing Health if no other enemy Heroes are within 4 range of the victim.
    • If you got 6 stacks of Snipe, each shot of Triple Tap deals bonus damage to Heroes equal to 3% of their missing Health and enemy Heroes hit within the center of the area of Precision Strike receive bonus damage equal to 6% of their missing Health depending on your Heroic Ability.
    • Holo Decoy does not benefit this talent.

  • One in the Chamber (Passive)
    • Adjusted functionality:
      • After losing Stealth or using an Ability, Nova’s next Basic Attack within 6 seconds deals 30% more damage, plus 50% of the benefit of Snipe’s bonus damage.
      • Hitting an enemy Hero with Snipe grants a bonus damage to the next Basic equal to 100% of Snipe’s bonus damage instead of 50%.
      • Holo Decoy does not benefit this talent.

  • Lethal Decoy (E)
    • Adjusted functionality:
      • Increase the damage Holo Decoy deals by 5% per Snipe stacks, when reaching 6 stacks, this bonus is increased from 30% to 40%.
      • !Passive: Increase Holo Decoy duration by 50%.

Comment: As for level 7, all talents increase Nova's Damage.

Sitting Ducks follows the same Game Design as Valeera's Assassinate (level 16 talent) and increases the capacity of Snipe and Nova's Heroic Ability to kill weakened targets, which is way these Ability are designed for.

One in the Chamber has been slightly reworked so that it can be picked with Triple Tap, and rewards Players for being able to reach and keep 6 stacks of Snipe, while adding a huge burst damage to Basic Attacks, which can be increased by Pinning Shot's Quest.

Lethal Decoy is still here, but adapted to Nova's Snipe mechanic.

Level 20

  • Fast Reload (R1)
    • New functionality: Fast Reload (R1/R2)
      • If one of the 3 shots of Triple Tap kills an enemy Hero, Triple Tap’s cooldown is reset and its Mana Cost is refunded.
      • Enemy Heroes that die within 2 seconds of being hit by Precision Strike cause the cooldown and Mana cost to be refunded.

  • Precision Barrage (R2)
    • Removed.

  • Rewind (Active)
    • Deleted.

  • Crippling Shot (W)
    • Moved from level 16.
    • New functionality:
      • Pinning Shot benefits Snipe’s bonus damage and reduces the Armor of Heroes hit by 15 for the duration of the Slow. Armor reduction does not stack.

  • New talent: Ghost Maneuvers (Active)
    • Activate to instantly grant Stealth to Nova, teleport to the target location and leave a Holo Decoy to the place you were before teleporting. After 1 second, you can activate Ghost Maneuvers once again to swap places with your Decoy.
    • Range: 3.0 (same as Jaina’s Ice Blink).
    • Cooldown: 80 seconds.

  • New talent: Perfect Decoy (E)
    • Holo Decoy also benefits Nova’s talents (still for 10% final damage, or more if you got Lethal Decoy at level 16) and no longer takes 100% more damage when receiving damage.
    • Whenever Nova swaps places with her Decoy, she gains 10% increased damage for 3 seconds.

Comment: Finally new level 20 talents.

I've combined Fast Reload with Precision Barrage (as they almost have the same goal for Nova: Giving another charge of her Ultimate) and I benefit from this change to give 3 new talents.

Crippling Shot has been moved from level 16 to 20 and benefits Snipe's bonus damage, which can increase its damage by 80% thanks to Triple Tap, and the Repeatable Quest "Perfect Shot" can increases it even more. Though, it still reduces the Armor to grant Utility to her Team mates.

Ghost Maneuvers is really similar to Samuro's Wind Walk with the level 13 talent "Shukichi", but is linked to her Design and Decoy and can allow huge mind games by summoning and swapping places with multiple decoys at the same time.

Finally, Perfect Decoy allows Nova's Decoy to benefit all talents where there's written "Holo Decoy does not benefit this talent" and causes the Decoy not to lose more HP which makes harder to know which one is the real Nova.
