STORY

The female mage clan of Zann Esu is one of the oldest of the ancient clans, although little is actually known about them. Centuries ago, the fourteen powerful covens of Esu witches convened for the first time in generations. What they discussed is not known, but the witches left behind their former lives and, as a group, disappeared into the Eastern jungles.

The exact location of their community is a mystery. Until recently, their only contact with the outside world occurred during the recruitment missions. Once every seven years, the Zann Esu visit certain families across Sanctuary. These families have only one thing in common – they each have a seven-year-old daughter. Always good-natured and polite, the Zann Esu visitors meet the girls, ask a few questions and then leave. A select few of the girls are visited a second time and offered apprenticeships. The families of those chosen enjoy good fortune for many years.

The Zann Esu, or Sorceresses as they are generally known, are on a quest for the "perfect" magic in its purest form. They feel that the other disciplines of magic are haphazard, and have instead chosen to focus strictly upon elemental magic. They mold the base elements into whatever magical forms they need – threatening all other magic disciplines with obsolescence. In order to achieve perfection in these elemental transmutations, they choose only those daughters of Sanctuary with the highest level of attunement to the magical elements.

The Sorceresses believe that it is through the search for perfection that they will attain ultimate purity and ascend to their destined role as the most powerful mages in Sanctuary. For centuries they have studied in secret, perfecting their art and biding their time until the Emergence of Evil. Then, they will face their greatest challenge, either proving the purity of their magic or fading from existence.

Sorceresses of the Zann Esu Clan. Athletic, affable, and self-assured, Sorceresses hardly seem like scholarly bibliophiles hidden away from civilization. They possess many of the same skills as the male members of the Mage Clans, but excel at the use of elemental magic. Like most mages, they consider melee combat vulgar, and use magic almost exclusively to fight their enemies

SYNOPSYS

Isendra is a mage with lowest HP in the game, because of her trait Energy Shield ,she uses mana as HP. Sorceress can do a lot of damage, but becomes irrelevant if take a lot of poke damage, since her mana starts to deplete very fast. Any Heal she gets regenerate her mana, but only half of the amount healed. Her gameplay is pretty similar to most mages, but it has its own flavour, you can spam your skills very often and deal a lot of damage, but then you become very vulnerable to dive, thus you need constanly to manage your mana and know when you can go over the edge and take the risks to reach your goals.

Most of her skill has pretty long range, a bit shorter than Chromie’s tho.

Chain Lightning is a line of energy that flies forward and hits everything on its path, even you get hit by its tail you still get damage.

Glacial Spike is a frost ball that explodes on impact and deal damage and slow in the area of impact, a bit like Li-Ming’s orb, but smaller.

She has 3 choices of Heroic Abilities and despite of it she can pick any of the Mastery (Heroic Upgrade) at level 20, even if you picked Frozen Orb, you still can pick Fire or Lightning mastery if you want, it provides versatility. At level 7 You can pick one of the active talents that can be amplified by Mastery at level 20. Tal Rasha's Wrappings is the quest at level 16 that give a pretty good bonuses, but it is pretty hard to complete, you need to hunt and kill all enemy heroes In the span of 5 minutes and you get them, a tribute to Nazeebos that take quest at lvl 20 with 89 stacks and Kael’thases with Convection. 😉

TRAIT

  • Energy Shield – While you have mana, you lose Mana instead of HP. You refill your mana in the half of the amount healing you take.

BASIC ABILITIES

    – Calls down a meteor that lands after short delay and explodes, deals AoE damage and leaves
    a burning zone on the ground that dealing damage to enemies standing in it for 3 seconds.

  • Chain Lightning – Casts a lightning that flies in a straight line, damages all enemies on its path, if it hits an enemy hero

    – Creates an orb that flies forward and sprays frozen bolts around it, the bolts slow enemies hit, the orb explodes at the end of path, dealing additional damage to all enemies hit in the explosion and slowing them heavily.

    Hydra
    – Summons a Hydra that attacks up to 3 closest enemies for 8 seconds, priorities heroes. You can have up to 2 hydras at the same time. 2 Charges.

    Static Field
    – Use to make enemies around you lose 15% of their current health. 3 charges.

TALENTS

LEVEL 1

  • The Oculus – Each time you hit a hero with a basic ability you gain a charge of armor that reduces damage you take from the next damaging ability by 20% or increases damage of your next basic ability by 10%. You can store up to 3 charges.


  • chillingarmor01 - Isendra, D2 Sorceress Hero Concept.
    Frozen/Shiver/Chilling Armor
    – You gain Frozen Armor that periodically absorbs damage you take. Absorb damage taken from heroes. After 7500k damage absorbed you gain Shiver Armor that in addition slow movement and attack speed of enemies that attack you by 25% for 2 sec. After 15000k damage absorbed you gain Chilling Armor that in addition to previous effects, launches an ice bolt to the hero that attacks you slowing and damaging. This effect has 6 seconds cooldown.

  • Warmth – Gathering a Regeneration Globe increases mana regeneration by 5%, up to 100%. Increases passive mana regeneration rate by an additional 100%.

LEVEL 4

  • Inferno – Hit 30 enemies with Meteor. Meteor's burning zone radius increased and reduce enemies Armor by 5 each tick, up to 25 Armor reduction for 3 sec.

  • Silkweave – Each enemy Hero hit by Chain Lightning increases your movement speed by 5%, up to 25% for 4 sec. Hit 5 enemy Heroes with one Chain Lightning 5 times. Your movement speed increased by 10% and movement speed granted by lightning hits increased to 10% and up to 50%.


  • iceblast02 - Isendra, D2 Sorceress Hero Concept.
    Freeze
    – Killing an enemy within 4 seconds of being hit by Glacial Spike makes him explode and deal damage and slow to all enemies around by 25% for 2 sec. Heroes that die root nearby enemies for 1 sec.

  • Tal Rasha's Rudiments – Using Basic Abilities grants 2% Spell Power, to a maximum of 10%. This bonus is reset when the same Ability is used within a chain.

LEVEL 7

    – Use to release a frost nova that deals damage and slows enemies around you.

    – Activate to start to leave a trail of fire while running that deals damage to all enemies in it, duration 4 seconds.


  • thunderstorm01 - Isendra, D2 Sorceress Hero Concept.
    Thunder Storm
    – Use to deal damage to the farthest enemy in range. 2 Charges.

LEVEL 10 (Heroics)

  • Hydra – Summons a Hydra that attacks up to 3 closest enemies for 8 seconds, priorities heroes. You can have up to 2 hydras at the same time. 2 Charges.

  • Static Field – Use to make enemies around you lose 15% of their current health. 3 charges.

LEVEL 13

  • Telekinesis – Activate to make you auto attacks do a small knockback in the direction you are facing with each attack, duration 5 seconds.

  • Enchant – Buff a friendly Hero to deal bonus spell damage with each attack.

  • Manald Heal – You regenerate 0.1% mana per enemy hit and 0.5% mana per hero hit with any of your attacks.

  • Raven Frost – While below 50% mana you become immune to slow and root effects.

LEVEL 16

  • Magefist – Meteor lands faster. Each hero hit by Meteor Increases damage of the next Meteor by 15% and reduces its CD by 0.5 sec.

  • Griffon's Eye – Chain Lightning does 50% more damage to enemies in close range and its arc range is increased by 25%.

  • Snowclash – Increases Glacial Spike slow duration by 100%. Each enemy hero hit by Glacial Spike increases the slow amount by 10%.

  • Tal Rasha's Wrappings – Perform 5 takedowns in the span of 5 min. Gain 15 Armor,All damage increased by 15%, Basic Attack speed and range increased by 50%, wizard minions that die near you now drop an additional Regeneration globe, enemy heroes also drop a Regeneration globe when they die, also gain

    glowing aura that annoys and does nothing.

LEVEL 20

  • Fire Mastery– Increases Meteor's Radius by 25% and range by 50%. Hydra can attack up to 5 enemies and each time Hydra hits and enemy hero its duration increased. You gain 25% movement speed during Blaze.

  • Lightning Mastery – Lightning can arc indefinitely until someone is in range. Static Field 5% more effective and has 30% more range. Thunder Storm gains 2 more charges and charge cooldown reduced by 2 sec.

  • Cold Mastery – Glacial spike missile speed increased by 25% and it pierces through all enemies exploding with each hit. Frozen Orb can be redirected while in air and enemies hit by the center of it rooted for 2.5 seconds. Frost Nova range increased by 100%.

  • Teleport – You teleport a long distance.

    Nightsmoke
    – Activate to make damage taken regenerate your mana instead for 3 seconds.

Afterword:

I tried to make her gameplay not too gimmicky and translate her skills ,so you can feel like you play a sorceress in D2. I think these abilities that I added are most iconic and reflect D2 sorceress nature the most. I had many Ideas like: Abilites that rotate with each cast (Firebolt->Fireball->Meteor->Firebolt etc.), Stacking abilites that increase each time you hit enemy with the same school of magic (First Frosbolt hit slows/Second Frostbolt hit roots,Third Frostbolt hit stuns), and many more. In the end I stopped at this varian because I feel it is the most simpe and elegant and fun one(At least for me) and this is how I remember her from playing many hours of D2 in the past.
