The game is in crisis. And maybe we should stop pretending otherwise? It was odd to begin with to have christmas bells in March. By now it's completely embarassing. And it has no reasonable explanation. There's no reasonable excuse for this. That Activision-Blizzard can't assign 30 minutes of time to a person to just toggle the event off.
In December 2018 we were told with extreme coldness that Activision Blizzard would rather see us spend money in "more epic gaming experiences with you in the future"
After that letter, we had some of the most passionate people who LOVED this game forcibly moved to those 'other projects' ( and they clearly didn't agree with Activision Blizzard's "vision" , since they ended up just moving on to Riot Games instead ). I don't see how that brings long term sustainability. Eventually those devs were replaced by new devs. But we recently saw how many of those devs were once again shuffled over to work on diablo 4. How can the game be long term-sustainable if every time a dev starts getting the hang of it, they are moved to diablo 4 and leave a huge vacancy here?
Which brings us to where we are. I don't know what's the truth. I don't know if there are zero developers left or 1 or 2 or 10. But the point is that when the game is still playing Christmas bells in April 6-th, it doesn't SEEM like there are still any devs left. The impression being given from Activision-Blizzard to the community is nobody is working on this game anymore.
The current radio silence is very reminiscent of the situation leading to December 18-th. With competitive teams being completely confused as to whether there was going to be a HGC. Quick Match being in a state of complete disarray after an experimental change was introduced and not being reverted long after it failed. And no dev making any on-the-record statements regarding any of the issues.
So when the first post from a blue person is about a cosplay (and it was a really cool cosplay) I think it's understandable that people would backlash against it. We are desparate for confirmation regarding the game. Is it being cut further? Is it not? Without that knowledge, we can't really be positive. We can only pretend to be.
tl;dr; We are currently in an extreme need of communication or at least a very minor, simple action from the developers. Of course there will be backlash when the devs try to act as if we weren't in that situation.,
