It’s been 2~ years since my last AMA on this sub. I’m flying to NY, so you have my undivided attention for the next 5 hours and then I’ll sporadically answer more questions later on. For those who don’t know me, I’ll include some background below.
My Background: I practiced law at one of the largest law firms in Seattle, wrote a white paper about LoL-esports and the law that rose to the top of this sub, and spring-boarded that into a practice focused on esports law. I founded the world’s first dedicated esports law firm in January 2017, ESG Law (www.esglaw.com), where my team and I exclusively represent esports-related clients. We work with about 35-40 esports teams, including 9 from the LCS and 6 from the LEC, on-air talent, full-time streamers, and esports-focused businesses. We don’t represent any active pro players for conflicts reasons.
I also do a lot of consulting work in the space, advising major sports teams and owners, brands, and investors on how to successfully enter and navigate the esports space. I’ve done this independently, co-managed the esports advisory division of Catalyst Sports & Media, and recently co-founded a company called Theorycraft, where I’ll be doing this type of work for the foreseeable future.
