I've seen a bunch of people who seem to focus on all the wrong things with this game and want to turn it into something it was never meant to be (according to my perception). People seem to prioritize loot, and rep levels over anything else in the game… I see loot and voyages as secondary at best.
The voyages and loot only serve a minor purpose, and that's to get u to leave port and go sailing. They give u a destination and a goal upon arrival, but those r simply a means to an end.
This game shines the most in between point A and point B. It's the journey and the events along the way that make this game unique and entertaining. Pve would kill more than half the reason for even playing in the first place and AFK'ers wouldn't be an issue at all if people just abandoned what they had and sank it in the red to prevent losers from profiting off of nothing.
Also, asking for vertical progression would also kill the current vibe. The fact that we all get the same tools and victory is decided by the ones who use them better to their advantage is refreshing. I feel it's a good system to keep everyone on a fair playing field
I'm obviously not on the dev team so I can't speak for them, but requests from the community just seem to go against everything I pictured from the beginning… just my 2 cents but I can see this turning into every other game if enough people cry loud enough, I personally don't want that to happen
