Yes, i am one of those guys that hated on the game for its lack of content, but first let me just explain, i helped test the game for many months before launch, i played a hell of alot of hours, i loved the game, but soon after launch the game just got stale to me, i had barely hit 25 reputaion in each faction before i completely burnt out, the realization of the grind completely killed the game for me, coupled with the fact that there really wasnt anything to do apart from the faction voyages also helped in my decision to quit.
Even though i stopped playing i still stayed somewhat up to date with what was being added into the game, but finally, as the map expansion draws near i reinstalled with a genuinely lacking expectation.
There she is! My trusty sloop, i quickly grab a hoarders voyage and go on my way, after sailing around for a bit i see the new(ish) 3 man ship at an island, i hadn't actually had a good look at it yet so i sailed over to say hello, obviously the Sea Of Thieves was still as riddled with scum and villiany as i could remember because as i got close thier sails dropped and crys of "man the cannons"!! Bellowed from thier ship, i followed cautiously behind trying to relay the message that i was friendly and i just wanted a closer look at the 3 man ship, AND THATS WHEN IT STARTED. The seas turned black and The Kraken emerged, i quickly shout to the 3 man to board my ship and take as many cannon balls and planks as they can carry, just like that we were now allied. I abandon my ship and help fight off the Kraken on thiers. Shortly after that i arrange to meet them with my new sloop and we form an actual alliance, a feature that was missing back when i used to play, it was just awesome. We bang out a couple of captain skulls then on our way to the outpost a huge Megalodon crashes into thier ship killing two of thier sailers, i knew they were in big trouble. I then fire myself onto thier ship ( honestly the best shot ive ever pulled off ) and help with the repairs whilst they have sailors down.
I could go on writting about the next 4 hours of my gameplay however no one would make it to the end of this, the point is that Rare, for as much stick as they get over this gams, have created a social experience that is pretty much unrivalled, at least on console. And what they have added seems to be very well done, there obviously could always be more done, however as someone who hasnt played since launch month i found the whole thing refreshing and just, well, incredibly fun. There are so many new little things around that i am looking forward to learning about and experiencing. GG Rare, and GG inhabitants of the Sea Of Thieves.
© Post "I just played for the first time since launch month, wasnt expecting much however i cannot deny that this game has a certain magic to it that other games just do not have." for game Sea of Thieves.
