Right after updating I loaded in on a solo sloop as none of my friends were on line. I dropped an OoS quest (which I would rarely do on a solo) and spotted the beckoning Skull in the sky.
Under normal circumstances I would have carried on my way to Crooked Masts, but there was another sloop there and I really just wanted to see/take out some of these suicidal skellies.
I though to myself, “Screw it, let’s see if anyone is at the fort, worse case maybe I can get a few kills in for the commendation.”
So off I sailed to a fort on a solo sloop. As Sharkfin Camp came into view I noticed no masts lingering in the air. “Cool” I thought. I bumped my home button to see if anyone signed on to join me. No dice.
So I got there. I was immediately met by my first bomber. The hilarity of it all was awesome. I was killing round after round with relative ease while commendations and doubloons rolled in. The traditional door strategy was out, I had to come up with a new and fun approach and it just made the whole thing that much more fun. I figured it was only a matter of time before another crew rolled in but at least I was having a blast and getting some small reward for my effort. “I’m really enjoying this update,” I thought to myself.
The final round rolled in and it was a shadow captain and his gang. A bomber caught me and I was on the ferry of the damn now with a heightened sense of panic and paranoia. “Of course I’ll probably loose it here at the end,” I worried. I bumped the home button again, still no friends on line.
A few more shots and I finally slayed the shadow king in the dark. I checked the horizon and the coast was clear. I opened the door and loaded my first solo fort treasure on my ship. “Man, this is a lot of work by yourself,” I thought.
As I set course for Galleon’s, I’ve never been so happy to see an outpost, I realized I still am not in the clear and a Meg could catch me at any second. I swear every rock formation at night looks like fins. As fate would have it, that temptress bi*ch that is the sea had a shipwreck waiting for me right near Galleons. “Fu*k it, might as well be brazen!” I grabbed a few extra trinkets from the depths of the wreck of Athena and then my panicked ass finally pulled into Galleon’s Grave, Just as i was docking, I spotted the silhouette of a Galleon’s flags in the distance. I hoped off and hurriedly turned in my treasure. Sold some doubloons for my 45 in OoS and thought to myself, “this is one of the most fun times I’ve had in this game and it was all by myself.”
Well done, Rare!
