I just spent the past three hours assembling a crew to kill the Megalodon. It took a bit of time to wave down boats who were in the area, but I managed to get them to agree to a Megan fight. Hell, two of the boats contained pirate legends, so I felt ecstatic. After 4 nights of failure in finding a group, I was finally confident.
It took me a bit of time to convince my friends who had been left soured by the lack of things to do in the game at launch, but they were reluctant when I mentioned the big shark. So, they joined me.
When we ventured to T26 on the map, we opened fire immediately at the beast, watching it writhe and squirm in the open waters. It sunk its teeth into our ship and I went down to patch up the damage. Sadly, new holes kept appearing. It wasn't the shark that was just attacking us. It was the legendary pirate hunter and his sloop that were firing his cannons into our galleon.
I figured it may have been an accident, but it wasn't. The buddy he rolled with, the other pirate legend, climbed aboard our ship and destroyed what was left with a powder keg.
My friends don't want to play the game anymore, and I don't blame them.
Rare, please, I understand if you don't want to make PVE-only servers/zones. I understand it's Sea of Thieves, and not Sea of Friends. I understand shit happens, but surely there's a better way to start the Megalodon fight. It's so mind-numbingly frustrating to set a group up for the Hungering Deep. Please take my criticism and complaint into consideration.
To the Redditors/Players–don't be a d*ck…please.
Anyway, that's all I have. My brain is mush. I'm so exhausted and frustrated that it was all for naught.
