I see posts daily of people complaining about someone sinking them and taking their treasure.

“Pirate Legends suck! They’re all as*holes who chase me down and take me stuff!”

“This game is full of griefers who sink your ships!”

“Rare please add safe zones and a PvE mode where I can grind in peace!”

“They betrayed my alliance. SHAME ON THEM!”

No. To all of the aforementioned things. Nobody cares and here’s why:

Sea of Thieves is a shared-world adventure game. Before you get yourself into this game, you understand that you are playing a game that integrates PvE and PvP. This is what you signed up for and you know it. So why oh why do people feel the need to complain about this aspect of the game when they know ahead of time how it works? This mix of PvE and PvP is the core gameplay element that makes the game what it is.

If I invite you to my house and tell you we’re watching a Lord of The Rings marathon, you wouldn’t show up and start trying to push Harry Potter instead when you already knew it was Lord of The Rings would you? No.

So don’t pick up what you know ahead of time to be a PvE AND PvP experience and ask for a change to the core structure of the game because you don’t know how to adapt to it. I can come sink you even if you don’t feel like engaging in combat. I can betray the alliance even if you really wanted the alliance to stay together. None of that is against the rules or griefing. That’s Sea of Thieves, and as long as I don’t verbally harass you or attack my own crew, my way of playing is just as valid as yours.
