I've seen the term griefing heavily misused in this sub when referring to PvP so I decided to make this post.

Griefing is whenever a player in your crew sabotages your play session. May this be by kegging the ship, dropping the anchor again and again, throwing chests off the ship, etc.

PvP is whenever a player not in your crew attacks you. May this be by cannons, cutlass, spawncamping, flintlock, anything that kills you that another player uses is PvP.

The reason that spawncamping is frequent in PvP is because in a boarding scenario, you need to keep the other crew dead so yours can funnel supplies, or steal loot.

A boarding crew isn't going to politely wait for your respawn, their eye is on taking whatever you have, and making sure you don't have a chance to contend.

You may see what was described as a dirty tactic, or as griefing, but nonetheless, here is some ways to prevent that from happening.

-When getting chased down, don't sail in a straight line, maneuver your ship around islands or rocks, as the galleon and brig have quite large turning circles, making them easier to evade

-Keep a lookout on the ship while anchored/docked at an island, a set of perceptive eyes may be the difference between a pleasant voyage or a brutal fight

-Sell your loot frequently between every 3 or 5 items, the more you hoard, the more they want to board

-Don't get tilted when you get boarded, stay calm when you counter attack, screaming over game chat doesn't kill a pirate

-If you know your going to just be spawncamped over and over, just scuttle the ship, they won't be able to take the rest of your supplies
