I have a tradition of slowly falling off games as a service due to my life getting in the way of time limited events and long haul gaming. This has happened in the past with both Destiny games and Division. Generally this is because of work and life commitments, or similar commitments my friends have meaning I can’t play with them.
SoT is different, though I put as much effort to get the time limited skins and doubloons when they pop up, I have about a 40 – 60% strike rate. This doesn’t bother me in the least.
So far I’ve only taken down 32 Skele ships, and I haven’t been able to take down the Wilds skele fleet yet. Right now I’m a little disappointed that I won’t get the Bone Crusher liveries, but once they are gone, I don’t really care!
Maybe it’s because I think I might get another chance one day. I’d be surprised if they Spent the time making these skins to only ever release them for 4 weeks.
Maybe it’s because I needn’t have bought anything from the start and the game mechanics are exactly the same.
Maybe it’s because I still have a lot to grind for(I’m only about level 35 with each faction) and still a lot of items to buy, without time limited items.
Maybe it’s because it hasn’t taken me 2 weeks to level cap and then everything after that is a grind only for the most hardcore groups of players that have to be so in sync that they might as well be an esports team!
I think it’s most likely because it’s an awesomely crafted, balanced, kick ass game that lets you get out of it as much as you put in.
Thanks Rare for getting rid of my gaming FOMO!
