I've just finished up my contract here in Seoul. Without another job in place, I can't get a visa to remain in the country. Given my professional skillset, I'd likely have to take a job as an English teacher here if I wanted to remain, and I don't think that's the right path for my life right now. My streaming/casting career hasn't quite developed enough to merit a full-time career as an esports personality. I can assure you I've explored every option to remain here, as I love the chosen family and friends that I've made in Korea. Therefore, the only real option available to me is to return to the USA. My flight home is on Tuesday, Sep 24. Sadly, that does mean that I will miss the GSL Season 3 finals and Super Tournament 2.
In fact, Saturday's semifinal matches will be my final GSL event here in Korea. I have had the distinct pleasure of helping swarms of Starcraft fans plan their holidays, find their way to the venue, and locate a cold beer after the matches. It's truly been the highlight of my time here in Korea, and there will forever be a hole in my heart where the GSL used to be. Of course, I look forward to shitposting with the rest of the Twitch chat GM's in 2020 and beyond. If you are able to attend the GSL in the future, there are several helpful posts out there, and everyone is always welcome to reach out to me with questions. I just won't be around to help you to and from the studios anymore.
With regards to my streaming, it's more bad news, I'm afraid. I'm selling my computer before I leave, and I don't foresee a way for me to keep up with content creation anytime in the next month or two. This means that weekly viewer 1v1s, tournament casting, and all other streams are suspended until further notice. I will be sending out a notice to my subscribers via email, but I encourage you to find other small-time Starcraft 2 content creators to support on Patreon, Twitch, MyFreeCams, or wherever.
I am applying for PR, community, and marketing jobs in the video game industry with increasing urgency every day. I suspect it will be a while before I am able to find solid ground in my job search, but as soon as I have found a city to call home, my first priority (after buying an apartment, a car, and a stress ball) will be to re-establish my streaming setup and get back on the dragoon, as it were. If anyone has job leads or recommendations for good cities for homless single dorks to live in, I would welcome your suggestions and advice.
Finally, I want to say thank you. To Blizzard, to Afreeca TV, to the Korean SC2 guys, to the entire caster community, to the tournament organizers, and to everyone who has welcomed me into their hearts and their lives over the past few years. You may not hear from me for a while, but as soon as I'm able, I'll get back in there and bring you the action again.
My spirit remains indomitable.
TL;DR – Creighton's going dark for a month or more. He will miss you guys.
