I could use some help with my game crashing.
On multiple saved games (with multiple Empires and differrent mod configurations – was trying to figure out what could be causing this) I am constantly getting crash to desktop with exception:
Application: Stellaris Version: 2.8.1 Date/Time: 2021-03-13 10:23:04 Unhandled exception C0000005 (EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION) at address 0x00007FF65E5CA44C Stack Trace: 1 stellaris.exe PHYSFS_swapULE64 (+ 5936236) 2 stellaris.exe PHYSFS_swapULE64 (+ 3015704) 3 stellaris.exe PHYSFS_swapULE64 (+ 3003036) 4 stellaris.exe PHYSFS_swapULE64 (+ 2865504) 5 stellaris.exe PHYSFS_swapULE64 (+ 2974452) 6 stellaris.exe PHYSFS_swapULE64 (+ 1909624) 7 stellaris.exe PHYSFS_swapULE64 (+ 570700) 8 stellaris.exe PHYSFS_swapULE64 (+ 524928) 9 stellaris.exe PHYSFS_swapULE64 (+ 14316171) 10 stellaris.exe PHYSFS_swapULE64 (+ 261373) 11 stellaris.exe PHYSFS_swapULE64 (+ 1097402) 12 stellaris.exe PHYSFS_swapULE64 (+ 14240114) 13 stellaris.exe PHYSFS_swapULE64 (+ 14241608) 14 stellaris.exe (function-name not available) (+ 0) 15 stellaris.exe (function-name not available) (+ 0) 16 stellaris.exe SDL_wcslen (+ 1939866) 17 stellaris.exe SDL_wcslen (+ 1582246) 18 KERNEL32.DLL BaseThreadInitThunk (+ 20) 19 ntdll.dll RtlUserThreadStart (+ 33) 20 ntdll.dll RtlUserThreadStart (+ 33)
The address of each crash always ends with A44C, the rest differs, but only slightly and only on different mod configurations.
It always crashes on second day of the month(always in early game – never got to year 2240, got crash even on 2216), and there is no way of avoiding it – disabling mods doesn't help – it only delays it by few months max and I can't disable Ancient Cache of Technologies, or More Events (game wont load) , but I have tried playing another campaign without those and got crash anyway. It also doesnt seem to be related to any reseach, leaders or unity – I have tried firing all leaders and disabling research …. no luck.
Only time I got to higher dates was, when I started the game, used the Observe command and let it run(got to year 2300), played for a while after that , then stopped but it did not crash that way(at least yet). So my best guess as why it crashes would be some kind of player event maybe? Or some conflict, but I can't figure out what exactly.
I have already tried to Verify game files in steam and complete clean install of the game and mods(deleted everything from both game install directory and documents). And yes, vanilla game runs fine .
Current mod load order below.
