Hello there, I'm a newbie! Due to the recent sales I gave ESO a whirl and since then I've been really enthralled! The over-world is easy enough but the environmental art is fantastic, the dialogue fun and the lore interesting. I joined a newb-friendly Guild and have already had some help with WB's and general advice, so the post from yesterday that my title is referencing is certainly true and I don't want to detract from that. However…
I like PvP.
And so I queued for random BGs…
Now, don't get me wrong this isn't my first rodeo, I was expecting to lose and struggle. I've followed a build for PvP, rolled stamDK 'cos I read it was decent, and I've researched how to play. So I'm doing OK considering it's my first character. In fact, I really enjoy it when the matchmaking balances the teams better. By this, I am of course referring to the balancing of these absurdly overpowered players which, I can only assume, are ESO's version of twinks. You know, those unbelievably powerful werewolves and the like. Nevertheless, I'm relentless to improve (and addicted to getting more of the dope armour appearances) so almost entirely levelled 20-30 by BGs.
But then, all of a sudden my fun came to an end. I ended up in a number of back to back games with this absolute nightmare. This person was on a stealth class, and as an archer, nightblade bow I think? They didn't play the BG, didn't try to win or help their team. Nope. Their sole role was stealth, wait for me or any other squishy newbie (i.e. non-twink) to engage, and then 4 shot us by spamming the morphed snipe ability… Oh and then tea-bag me. Dance on my body. And stealth out before anyone noticed.
Annnnddd so I made a mistake, when I managed to kill them once or twice. I thought heck, it's just a bit of fun and returned the favour. Yes, I tea-bagged, guilty as charged. Anyway. Mistakes were made. Why? Because this player then proceeded to make me their sole target for every BG after, even if there were other squishy newbs, they'd just target me, so I had no chance to just ignore them and fight. And they somehow got in everyone of my BGs. I've never been bullied like this in any other game and I have played some toxic games.
ZOS, please, I really like the PvP and as a solo player it's my main draw to progression. But it's clear as day that new players couldn't be more neglected in BGs. WoW resolved this by matching level frozen characters (i.e. the people twinking) with one another. This game can surely do it by matchmaking genuine new players with one another, freeze out the guys with mains above a certain level, that cannot be difficult. This should resolve it because I've no doubt these nightblades/werewolves/templars have all got some absurd gear from their mains or something. And no, I wouldn't mind a longer queue for a more level playing field!
Thanks for reading!
