Hello everyone,

To first note this is a post meant to warn and educate the ESO community on how support handles their loyal player base.

Over the span of 3 days my account received a permanent social ban and a permanent suspension of the account which has now been fully lifted last evening.

Happy to say that I am of course delighted to see proper justice done on my account but the way this was handled and more so the reason why is an absolute… well you can fill in that word for yourselves.

The story?

On the 25th of March my account was struck with a permanent social ban, clueless as to why since I had received no warning nor information whatsoever. I am not familiar with social bans and with the help of my friends and online research I came to this conclusion myself. I had already raised a ticket to support thinking this was a technical issue and noticed my ticket got classified as a ban/ suspension appeal to my utter surprise.

This was the initial reply from support:

Hello again,

After a thorough review of your account it has been determined that the account did in fact violate our Code of Conduct. We regret to inform you that your appeal for an account ban reversal is denied due to the evidence within our system for participating in botting/black market related activities.

Due to the extent and scale of the violation, it has been decided that the ban on this account will remain in place, and that all services related to this account shall remain deactivated permanently. This decision was not made lightly, and it is final.

Thank you,

The Elder Scrolls Online Team

I was absolutely dumbfounded as I had no clue what happened nor as to what I did wrong and proceeded to reply that this was a mistake on their end and that I did nothing wrong.

The second reply followed the next day:

We regret to inform you that your appeal for an account ban reversal is denied due to the evidence within our system for participating in botting/black market related activities.

I am very familiar with copy paste replies and realized I was speaking to a bot and not an actual person, based on advice from horror stories like these I proceeded to reply once again and then on Saturday evening I got booted out of my account with the lovely message: Your account has been permanently suspended. JOY.

The reply from support followed minutes later:

Hello again,

After another thorough review of your account it has been determined that your appeal for an account ban reversal is denied due to the evidence within our system for participating in botting/black market related activities.

It has been decided that all services related to this account shall remain deactivated permanently. This decision was not made lightly, and it is final.

I have been a player for years with 3000+ hours on Steam and been playing to the Steam release for ESO. An absolute farce to see all that time investment just be shattered in the course of 3 days.

Once again I replied to support trying to get a proper human to look into my ticket instead of being bot handled.

The reply on Sunday:

Greetings,

My name is **** with the Terms of Service team here at Elder Scrolls Online Support. I have taken some time to review your support ticket and the issue you are contacting us about.*

After a thorough review of your account, it has been determined that the account did in fact violate our Code of Conduct.

Upon further review, however, we have decided to provide a one time exception regarding your account. The ban has been removed and you may continue regular play. This doesn't alter the fact that there was a violation of our Code of Conduct and Terms of Service in the past. Please note that Botting and using automation related game play devices isn't allowed.

The account will have a Final Warning applied in place of the account deactivation. Please note that further violations of any part of our Terms of Service may result in a permanent deactivation of your account. Please take a few moments to review the Terms of Service and Code of Conduct, which must be acknowledged to participate in the The Elder Scrolls Online service.

Finally an actual human to look into my case and my account partially reinstated because!

My social ban was still in full effect, an absolute joke and I wanted answers. Once again pressing on the matter to receive a clear and detailed explanation and a proper explanation as to why my social ban was still in effect.

And here we come to the end of the story, the absolute farce as to why my account was permanently suspended and the answer will have you in shambles.

Before I post the reply you have to know that on the day where a bot decided my account should be perma banned I was actively doing a trial attempt with one of my trial guilds on vCR+1, since some of my friends from other guilds were in the same group I was of course whispering to them based on how badly the run was going.

Due to this I was making excessive use via whisper to one friend in particular of:

An ellipsis (plural: ellipses) is a punctuation mark consisting of three dots.

Use an ellipsis when omitting a word, phrase, line, paragraph, or more from a quoted passage. Ellipses save space or remove material that is less relevant. They are useful in getting right to the point without delay or distraction:

So short story I was typing dots in a whisper to one of my friends because I was so utterly speechless on how bad the trial attempt was time and time again.

Enjoy the next reply from ZoS as to why my account got perma banned:

Greetings,

After conducting a thorough investigation of your account, we see this account was action due to the utilization of automation.

This is defined as taking action on your character, without human input, to further advance your progress in the game. Which is considered botting.

As a result, the account was deactivated. After further investigation showed that the account was utilizing automation for personal gain and not gold selling, this account was lifted with a Final Warning.

In regards to the accounts social permission, if the system detect any irregular chat, it will automatically mute the account for further investigation.

We cannot allow Multiple Key Spam, as it is in direct violation of the following sections of our Code of Conduct:

So what is the moral of the story? Whispering to your friends in the form of dots is a form of personal gain through the use of botting for ZoS.

Don't dot, use your words!

See this as a warning to all players, whilst actual cheaters roam free on Tamriel the actual innocents get banhammered.

My account is now fully reinstated so justice has been done but this farce needs to be made public so players don't do the same and risk getting banned.
