Hear me out.
Around 4 years ago, I played a few hours of the original Witcher, but the fighting mechanics were so clunky and boring that I did not enjoy the gameplay. I'd heard the story is so good, being based on the book series, but the few hours I put in left me wondering what the fuss is about.
A year or so later, I then watched a 20-30 minute YouTube video that covered the story of the first game and I dove into Witcher 2. The game mechanics were definitely better, but still not thrilling, and the story, still, left me wondering what made it so good and I gave up on it after only a couple of hours.
I still want to try the 3rd game, as I've heard it is the best of the series and one of the best games ever made, but I've heard such high praise of the whole series and have yet to be impressed.
The real problem is, I love a good story and I really do want a reason to play through these because I could see them paying off. Without spoiling too much, what makes these games so good? Do you think I should try them all again or just skip to the third one? Is there something I'm doing wrong? Am I coming at the games from the wrong angle?
