The Witcher

TW3 came out years ago. I’ve beaten it multiple times. Who knows how many hours I’ve put into it. Last night I fired it up for the first time in a long time, and it still sucks me in and captivates me just as much as it did years ago.

I was looking at my games on Xbox last night and I didn’t really have anything in particular I wanted to play. But I bought the complete edition for The Witcher 3 on sale back when it got a 4K update for the Xbox One X. I had already bought it physically back when it launched and beaten it countless times, I did all the DLC. But since we were getting a 4K update for it, I thought, fuck it, I’ll buy it on sale, plus with the compete edition it’s a whole new set of achievements. So since then, I’ve beaten it again and kinda put it off to the side.

Last night I was looking at my games last night and thought, hmm. Guess I’ll play TW3. Haven’t touched that in a while. I remember the last thing I was doing was finishing up the monster contracts to get that achievement. I had 4 left. Well as I started doing them, I started getting sucked back in. As I’m playing, I keep saying to myself “man this game really is something special.” Those 4 monster quests turned to me doing other side quests. Those side quests turned to me exploring around. And now I have the urge to play through the DLC expansions again!

So here I am, I done caught the Witcher bug again. After playing it clicked in my head I still have 2 Witcher books left to read I think too! I started playing just to finish some monster contracts and now I’m wanting to do the expansions again! I’m full of excitement thinking about meeting the evil dude in Hearts of Stone, forgot his name, Oden? I could be wrong. But I have vivid memories and nostalgic memories of going through that expansion for the first time and getting the weirdest feeling that this dude isn’t right. That scene with him in the bar and he makes time freeze. I remember being like yep, he da devil! I’m excited to go through it again.

Then I started remembering my time going to Toussaint for the first time and being awe struck of how beautiful that whole area of the game is. The quest line for it was good too! And it was nice upgrading Geralt’s home basically.

Anyways, I just wanted to share my love for The Witcher 3. I only intended to play for a short while last night, but it’s fine grabbed hold of me again. I REALLY hope we get another Witcher game down the road. I know this is the end of Geralt’s story, but I can only imagine where they could take this game in the Witcher universe. But TW3 will always be held as a masterpiece of art in my opinion. I don’t think any other RPG has come close to it. Maybe one never will. But if it does, it’ll probably be by CDPR. Lol
