This is something I have been wanting to share for a while, but haven't really had the motivation to do so. I saw a recent post about a blind guy who would play Warframe with his spouse, and no longer could, which reminded me of how much Warframe means to me. I made a new account to thank all of you, since the point of this is not karma, it is to show my appreciation for you and DE. So here goes nothing…
I started Warframe when it first released on Switch, and I immediately fell in love with it. I played pretty much every day, and grinded as much as possible. At that point in my life, I was going through a pretty rough patch. One of my parents had lost their job, I was suffering from some severe anxiety and depression, and I had been contemplating suicide. In a kind of odd way, Warframe helped me through that. It was fun, and it was through the extremely grindy nature of the game that the community complained about that I kept coming back. It gave me something to look forward to every day, a bright side to every dark day. Each update gave me something to do and delayed me from…you know…committing suicide. Yes, I know that is lame that I had no life aside from the game, but it was beneficial to me in the end.
At the time, I really had no friends in real life since my interests were vastly different from those of my schoolmates. Most of them were obsessed with sports and Fortnite, where I was into anime, comics, and astrophysics. I was an excellent student, but I had no friends or anyone to share my interests with. When I started interacting with the community of Warframe, I found a caring community who didn't care about who you were in the real world, they were just there to have fun and mess around. Through the game and the friends I made through it, I realized that people still did care about me and that my life was worth living. Even in the pandemic, the community of this game helped me to maintain my mental health. So to all the Karens out there who claim that videogames can't be good for you, I just proved you wrong.
Finally, I would like to give a special thanks to all the friends I have made throughout my Warframe journey. I can't thank you guys enough:
To my early friends:
You guys made the beginning of my journey so much fun, and I can't imagine my Warframe journey without you.
To my clanmates, you guys mean more to me than you will ever know. You helped me through the star chart, and I still remember grinding that with you guys:
+the people I forget the names of and our alliance
To the random people in region chat. Whether it is anime tiddies or racism, you are always arguing about something, and it brings a smile to my face.
Special thanks to
Thank you to you, the community! You guys helped me through the game and helped support my mental health.
And finally to the devs who make this game great. You guys made such an impact on my life, again, I can't thank you enough.
Thanks for reading this! If you know any of the people in my lists, please send them this post! Not all of them are active anymore, but I still want my thanks to reach them.
