Hello everyone. I had a chance to play the beta and want to offer some feedback on the controller aiming. I'm flairing this for consoles because it's most important for those users, but these issues likely apply to the PC controller support as well.
First off, I'd like to thank Fatshark for adding an aim acceleration option. That's a huge quality of life improvement over the first game and I'm happy it made it in.
For other options, we could really use deadzone options. The deadzone is ~24%(deadzone <
), which is pretty average for games and was the default for the first, but still a large deadzone size. We could use a slider to control the size, hopefully going down to 0%. Being able to access deadzones like 5-10% would make aiming feel much smoother as well as make it much easier aim accurately.
The Y sensitivity options could also be changed. Currently even when set the same, the vertical sensitivity is much lower than the X. If you want to play with them actually being the same, you have to set the X sensitivity much lower than the Y, and then your max turn rate is pretty low even when the Y is maxed. Ideally The Y sensitivity options would function the same as the X.
A video showing this can be seen here: https://youtu.be/3JJoVihxhEc
Additionally, there seems to be some smoothing or acceleration on the Y axis. When looking vertically, after a short time the acceleration will spike(with aim acceleration off). This doesn't seem to happen with the X-axis and this makes vertical movements feel very janky and less predictable.
A video of that: https://youtu.be/aApvLJ7G84U I was pegging the stick in that example, but you can see this jump trigger with any vertical stick movement after a small period of time.
These would be the main fixes I'd request. A deadzone slider, make the Y sensitivity slider like the X, and remove this smoothing/acceleration from the Y axis. This would make the aiming great.
As a final, but not terribly necessary option, it would be wonderful to get a acceleration curve option. The current acceleration curve is perfectly fine, but an option to control it would give players tons of control over their aim. A few other games have used power functions and offered the degree for customization.

Anyway, thanks for reading.
