So with the recent interview with CC poultry panzer, he talked about the pen drop off on Tier X light tanks and how it may not be common knowledge.

So as the mad lad I am, I wrote down a lot of numbers and % difference.

Below is a list of the pen drop off of tier X tanks. ( if there is a 2nd set of numbers, it represents the premium round. )

Lights:

Pz wag: 242/194 – 19.8%

T-100: 230/184 – 20.0% _ 248/223 – 10.0%

Wz-132: 246/197 – 19.9%

Amx 105: 234/187 – 20.0%

Sheridan: 236/189 – 19.9%

Manticore: 248/208 – 16.1% _ 268/226 – 15.6%

Most Mediums in general only lose 10mm of pen on their standard APCR. Which is only 3%.

Below are the exceptions.

121: 258/244 – 5.4%

430U: 252/238 – 5.5%

K-91: 276/260 – 5.0%

Amx 50: 257/237 – 7.7% _ 325/297 – 8.6%

T95E6: 258/238 – 7.7% (same gun as T110E5)

Tvp: 248/225 – 9.2%

Udes: 254/240 – 5.5%

Heavies are quite random but there is a few that have similarities.

113: same as 121

WZ-5A: 250/232 – 7.2%

AMX m54 (120): 264/246 – 6.8% _ 315/285 – 9.5%

AMX M54 (130): 250/240 – 4% _ 280/263 – 6%

Maus: 246/241 – 2% _ 311/263 – 15.4%

Pz 7: 258/238 – 7.7% _ 315/270 – 14.2%

E-100: 246/241 – 2%

Type 5: 249/219 – 12.0% _ 282/247 – 12.4%

Fv215b/Conq: 258/238 – 258/238 – 7.7% _ 326/298 – 8.5%

Chieften: 270/245 – 9.2% _ 310/270 – 12.9%

T95/FV: same _ 322/280 – 13.0%

IS-4: 258/250 – 3.1%

IS-7: 250/240 – 4% _ 303/263 – 13.2%

705A: 256/244 – 4.6%

277: 265/245 – 7.5%

260: 260/245 – 5.7%

279E: same as IS-4

T110E5/T57: 258/238 – 7.7%

Kravagen: 252/228 – 9.5%

60tp: 250/235 – 6%

As for TD's it's mostly just 10mm across the board. Except 2.

Badger: 272/253 – 6.9% _ 320/300 – 6.2%

Waffle (12.8cm L61): 276/261 – 5.4% _ 352/295 – 16.1%

So that's a lot of numbers.

So back to the original statement, tier X lights having high drop off? Yup. More then a lot of the premium ammo of equal tier tanks.

Is this just for tier X lights, or is it on say the 9's?

WZ – 14.0% , 13 90 – 10.2% , Ru 251 – 10.6% , GSOR – 8.6% , T54 – 11.5% , T49 – 8.9% _ Averages to 10.63%

So yea… tier X lights got a bit of a boot on them for… reasons.

Now time for bonus facts / random rambling.

Despite the fact the pz7 shooting a faster round and having more pen. It has less pen the maus at 500m…. sure?

Pen drop off has no correlation to speed, type of round nor size of round. It's pretty up in the air and is used a balancing factor… generically.

Another annoyance of mine. The conquer has 326 apcr with its 120mm. The Pz. 7 has only 315 with it's faster and bigger 12.8cm. (Also has a worse drop off).

Remember that old saying of premium APCR has higher drop off… eh. It does but doesn't make the difference due to the higher pen and lack of sufficient drop off. However in my insanity I found a few rare examples at higher tiers where you may want to shoot standard ammo.

ISU-152: with a pen of 260/292 both drop to 242 at 500m. Making the Ap round more useful due to normalization.

P43: 165/195 drop to 147/153. Which depending on angle the Ap may be better.

leopard (tier 5): the 5cm L60 has 100/130. Drops to 85/72. Hay now that's a difference.

To go on a small rant of the leopard. The reason why the APCR drops so much is that it's the same number as the other 5cn gun found around tier 4. Which has 67/130. So the drop off of 72 make sense for such a low tier. Could go on more on this but that's a larger topic.

TLDR:

Tier X lights do have a higher pen drop off and always shoot premium cause balence and numbers.
