There is a point that I have spent a lot of time hammering over and over. This point being: that for ALL players, newbies and veterans alike, that it is very important to consider the benefits of Shared Research. Tanks that share module research with other tanks will help any player in their grinds. The grind speed of alternative branches in the same tree – or even the speed of researching in the same branch – can be sped up tremendously with shared research.

Today, I am going to cover the Japan Tech Tree. Grind hint for the tree – take the extra time to make sure your O-I at tier 6 is elite, and you will have unlocked all needed upgrades for guns through Tier 8, and Engines through Tier 9. The Japanese tree is actually pretty good about sharing modules of all types between the branches until Tier 6. The Heavy branch is one of the easiest grinds you will have in the game. The Medium branch is currently very, very low on the meta totem pole, and honestly, it is only worth grinding if you really, really want the STB-1. For a new player looking for a tree to grind that is made easier because of shared research, then you will really only get that boost with the Japanese heavy branch.

I will only count shared researches if it is an upgrade from stock for the current tank as listed below. This will be a measure of how many tanks in the same tech tree (including the tank you are on) that you can upgrade and/or help speed up research on if you decide to fully upgrade these components. This is especially true if this is the furthest you have gone in the tech tree to this point and you have researched no other branches yet in this tech tree. Also, keep in mind, in a couple of cases, an upgrade/shared research on one tank is a stock module on the next tank up. For example, the top gun on the Type 61 at Tier 9 is the stock gun on the Tier 10 STB-1.
