The November On-Tracks will be the M48 Patton and the E 100. Last month, I had predicted the Patton because, well, it's On-Track every November. I didn't even mention the E 100. Why? There were 20 tanks more due than it. It's not particularly popular. We didn't really need a Heavy, and if we did, it should have been the Type 5 Heavy, which is 2nd most overdue tank. We actually did need a German tank, but there were 5 other German tanks which were more overdue, including the Grille line which is closing in on 3 years since it was last On-Track! But, you know what? I'm not even mad. Compared to the crazy On-Tracks we've had this year (which have been about half of them), this seems like a semi-reasonable pick. Let's go with it.
Scheduling wise, they may have finally found some consistency at last, despite the majority of us not liking this schedule. Including the current Progetto On-Track, we'll have 3 consecutive 19 day long On-Tracks, with a seemingly unnecessary 2 day gap until the next one starts. Why? I have no idea, and I'm still wishing they'd give us back 14 day long On-Tracks which start and and finish on a Friday! I have to think they're going to fix/change this at some point because the current schedule only allows us to start a new On-Track rotation of all tanks once every three years!
Most Overdue (excluding SPG's)
- Nation: Sweden, Japan, China
- Class:: Light, TD
- Nation/Class Combo: Japan/Heavy, France/TD,
/Light, Sweden/Heavy, China/Medium, UK/Heavy
- Tanks: Grille 15, Type 5 Heavy, Strv 103B, E 50 Ausf. M, T110E4, T-100 LT, WZ-132-1, Rheinmetall Panzerwagen, AMX 13 105
I've started listing the Light Tanks above, because at this point, they really are overdue. It's now 561 days since they were released. It's hard to understand why we saw the Sheridan almost a year ago in December 2017, and haven't seen any other Light Tanks yet. There have been plenty good opportunities to have one represent a nation, event, etc. I know I've been predicting one for a while, and it hasn't happened yet, but you'd have to think that with each month that goes by, it gets more likely! I'm not giving up!
We've seen the Object 277, K-91, and Progetto be On-Track closer to their release date than any tank that's come before. At this point, we could label that a trend, and expect more of the same. The next most likely candidate is the 60TP, and I could see that being On-Track at any time now. Going back a bit further, we have the Object 705A, Object 268 v.4, and Object 430U. All of those would feel far too soon, but at this point in time, no longer a surprise. I'm going to go as far as listing the 60TP in my predictions, but consider it interchanable with any of these 3 Russian tanks as well. There will be a curve ball for sure…. more curve balls.
STILL waiting on the Grille. 889 days since it was released, and 1045 days since this line was last On-Track, almost a year more than any other tank. Wow, this is fun. This is a record for a non-SPG. It sounds like the Grille re-work is off the table, so there's no reason to hold off having this line be On-Track! Of all paragraphs I've ever written, this is the one I'm most looking forward to never having to look at again!
Sweden, the most overdue nation, really needs to be represented by the Strv 103B soon, though it's probably a few months out because the Grille 15 is still a much more overdue TD. There's actually an influx of TD's that are soon due. By the dates alone, 7 of the next 18 On-Tracks should be TD's, so they really need to start knocking these out.
There won't be any SPG On-Tracks in 2018 or 2019, and if there are, I'll probably just quit writing these. As they're so controversial, expect to wait twice as long for them as any other tank class, and with the current schedule, that could be a really long time. I'm no longer listing them in the most overdue Tanks section.
Yes, I'd been saying that the only Heavy that was due for a while was the Type 5 Heavy, and then boom, we get the E 100 out of no where. Besides the Type 5, the only other Heavy on the horizon is the Kranvagn, but that should be several months out. Should be. Ironically, the tank that replaced the E 100 as the 20th due is the IS-4. That said, you'll see I've thrown another Heavy into my predictions below as Britain needs some representation (though the Badger is also a good candidate, outside of making things a bit too TD abundant).
January is a tricky month from a prediction standpoint. The obvious thing to do here with the second On-Track for the month is have a Chinese tank represent the Chinese New Year (February 5th). The WZ-132-1 is the best candidate as both a Light tank that we've never seen, and the most overdue Chinese tank. With the unpredictability of Light tank On-Tracks, I could see us getting the 121 instead, and that's also a logical pick. If we do see the 121, I could see the first On-Track of January being a Light tank (because I really think we need to see one!), and while the T-100 LT makes the most sense, there would be nothing wrong with us seeing the German or French Light Tank lines represented as well.
With the current scheduling, we will often only see one On-Track in a calendar month, and I've accounted for that below. Sadly, December is one of those months.
- Dec: Grille 15
- Jan: 60 TP, WZ-132-1 (or 121)
- Feb: Type 5 Heavy
- Mar: Strv 103B
- Apr: E 50 Ausf. M, Super Conqueror
- May: T110E4
Anything you'd like to see me do differently with these? Any questions? What tank are you waiting to see On-Track? I'll reply to all comments below!
Hopefully these help your planning and you can save a bunch of credits! Good luck grinding!
