I went into a mythic 11 yesterday hoping to farm some Echoes of Ny'alotha. When I happened upon a mythic 11 Atal dazar, I queued up, and got accepted as I am a fairly geared tank with a decent IO of 2k with no intention of pushing farther. Before I go on, this is a story of helping people.
I got into the group and they immediately told me that this was a carry group, and that if I wasn't up for it, they wouldn't hate me if I left. And so I stayed, they invited me into discord, and I hopped in with them. Turns out, all but one of them, had started the game less than two weeks ago. I have a soft spot for new players, so I helped them for an hour and a half in the dungeon, learn the mobs, their rotations, ect ect. And even for an hour and a bit afterwards I helped the warlock learn casting and moving. I had a blast.
They kept telling me that they were lucky they ran into me, because I was actually helpful. I don't think I am the best person to help people learn their classes or the game, but I do everything I can when I see new players. I invited them into the community I am in, they can join my guild alt raids now, they have sources to pull from for their BIS items, talents, azerite, and corruptions that they didn't have before, and so on.
My point is, one thing they were saying was, most people were not receptive to them being new, and either rage quit their group or just left before pulling. I don't understand why people can be so rude about new players rather than helping the community grow. Personally, I love seeing others succeed in the game, new drops, gearing, ect. I know a lot of people don't, but I still don't understand why.
Anyway, that's the story of how I met 4 hilarious Americans, and how I taught 3 of them to play wow better.
Edit: Thank you all for the comments and the kind stranger for the gold! I appreciate all the people saying I am a good person, but I feel like it is mostly just common courtesy to help others. For all with the argument about how they shouldn't be in the key level, the real question is that somehow, one of the did something below and chested it, then they decided they needed the gear from the weekly chest. It was a really fun time to game with these fellows, and most of them added me to my friends list. I have made a lot of friends this way, and even a few of them have made it to roughly 3.5k Rio and ALWAYS ask me if I need help with dungeons, there are nice people out there, and the people on my friends list are a good testament to that. Please please please ask for help if you need it, people are willing to help if you ask.
