World of Warships

After being extremely critical of the CV rework and having CVs in almost every game, I decided to actually give it a chance and play some games this evening.

And it was the most un-fun experience I've had in a long time.

I ended every match feeling frustrated, even the wins. Having CVs in every game just isn't fun.

It removes smart play and meaningful choices. You have to simply stay with the group. The spotting starting 45 seconds into the match forces passive play and longer range engagements that turn into boring snipe fests.

See an opportunity to push up and make a play? Nope, fuck you. You're spotted by the planes striking someone 7k behind you before you even try to move up. Don't worry, they'll be back in 45 seconds to make sure you're spotted again if you have any silly ideas about flanking or playing the objective.

See an open cap in the mid-late game (because no one caps anymore most of the time for obvious reasons)? Nope, fuck you. You'll be spotted and reset over and over again by the endless waves of planes.

The only choice CVs bring to the game is deciding whether to turn to try to avoid the strike and give broadside to the enemy team, or just eat the whole strike.

Have some extra doubloons? Bought some soviet containers and lucked out getting the t8 mission? Have fun with your 18km range in the t10 matches that are even more passive because everyone is spotted 45 seconds into the game and spends the first ten minutes sniping from 20+km because pushing closer is certain death while pretty much perma spotted.

Decide to take out a CA because "jUSt PlaY aN AA ShIP?" Nope, fuck you. You're spotted by the endless waves of planes and focused by all the sniping BBs. And oh look! Here come the dive bombers to take half your HP in one strike while you have your fighter up and defensive AA active.

CVs were bad enough before, but they were tolerable because they were fairly rare and if you dodged/killed their strike, they'd fuck off for a few minutes so you could get unspotted or into cover to reposition or heal up. You could still take advantage of positioning or try to set up crossfires or flank. Now the whole class is designed around constant uptime, to the detriment of every surface ship in the game.

It's simply not fun to play against a class that simplifies the entire meta into a lemming train simulator. Any attempt to do anything other than ball up and stay with the group is heavily punished because of the constant spotting and harassment from planes. Oh, and meanwhile the CV itself is off in the corner, behind an island, or at least far enough behind his own team's lemming train to be at little to no risk.

Constant CVs and plane spam has made the game nothing but boring and frustrating. It just doesn't make any sense that a single ship type that is essentially playing a different game should have this much influence over how every surface ship is forced to play.
